Boo-Boo Cover-Up: pics, swatches, review

Hello, Beautiful!

In my first Beauty Army shipment I received a small sample of Boo-Boo Cover-Up. I have to admit I was really skeptical at first; I thought it was nothing more than a concealer and I didn't think I'd see any real healing benefits from using it. I was wrong, and I always love it when I'm wrong and a product exceeds my expectations! This is one of those products that exceeded my expectations and made me realize it's something others need to know more about.

Check out my pics, swatches, stats, and review...

Boo-Boo Cover-Up

Boo-Boo Cover-Up PRO's & CON's:

Formula:
This healing concealer contains aloe, chamomile, green tea, tea tree oil and vitamin E to promote and aid in healing. Aloe is an anti-irritant, anti-bacterial, speeds cell renewal/healing and helps with burns, wounds, skin irritations, eczema and acne. Chamomile is an antiseptic, calming, speeds cell renewal/healing and helps with wounds, dry skin, swelling, acne and rashes. Green tea is an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-irritant, antioxidant and helps with bruising, acne, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone.Tea tree oil is antiseptic, anti-bacterial and helps with infections, wounds, insect bites and acne. Vitamin E is an antioxidant, moisturizing, and helps with dry skin. All those combine with a concealer to hide your boo-boo's and heal them quickly.

Wear:
This isn't your typical makeup concealer where you'll apply it to cover up dark spots, under eye circles, etc. Oh no, you'll want to save this magic in a tube for your scrapes, burns, bruises, and even to heal acne. I listed this as average to above average wear, because it's going to be different for everyone, especially depending on where you're applying it. For me, it lasted a long time. Although the instructions suggest applying morning and night for 6 to 8 weeks to fully heal. You'll find you may not even need to use it that long!

Coverage:
Light to full coverage, depending on how you apply and how how many layers you need.

Shade Info:
Currently this is the only shade available, which is Medium. However, they are coming out with a Light and Dark shade option!

Cost/Availability:
$19.99 (0.5 oz full size). Available on the Boo-Boo Cover-Up website and other retailers where Boo-Boo Cover-Up is sold. Use the discount code WORD to get $5 off!

Squeeze tube with twist-off cap.

Boo-Boo Cover-Up Review:
As I mentioned at the start of this post, I was really skeptical about this product. I was on the fence with the sample I received, thinking it was nothing more than a concealer. It's way more than that. In fact, it should be considered a healing ointment with a side of concealer. It absolutely will help aid in healing!

I originally tested this out on my hands, because I had surgery and both my hands had IV marks but my left hand was really bruised from where the nurse couldn't get a vein. My hands looked terrible, especially the left one (which is my swatching hand, so it's important it looks good for photo reasons, lol). Immediately after applying Boo-Boo Cover-Up my IV marks and bruise were concealed, but within a few day my hands returned to normal. This is rare for me because usually anytime I have to give blood or have an IV for surgery that area will say red and bruised for a long time. It was nice to see my hands return to a normal within a few days.

So that test really made me think this product is good, but I wasn't planning to make a blog post on it based on just that one test. I knew I had to test more. Then one night after doing my night time skincare routine I got a little self conscious about my acne. Sure I was going to sleep and shouldn't worry about how I look to sleep, but sometimes my acne bothers me and I wish I could just sleep in makeup to cover it up. Of course I wouldn't do that because that's bad for you, but then I remembered my sample of Boo-Boo Cover-Up and thought I'd give it a try. It concealed my acne, which made me happy, but wanna know what made me really, really happy? I woke up and my acne was greatly improved; some spots were completely gone!! I couldn't believe it. That was the moment I knew this product was something special and I knew I had to tell my readers about!

Since then I've used Boo-Boo Cover-Up on my husband, my son, and of course myself. It speeds healing while concealing. I've recommend this to a few people, who went out and purchased it, and came back to thank me for my recommendation.

And I should mention that this one tube is going to last you forever! You only need a very small amount to get the job done. It is a thicker liquid/cream, so a tiny dot will do the job.

Of course you shouldn't use this on major cuts or open wounds, but that's common knowledge with any healing ointment. You should instead see a doctor and get some stitches, lol, then use this once that area heals. It also won't be a miracle acne healer; you shouldn't expect to put this on and wake up with no acne. It will greatly help though!

Overall, YES, I would recommend this. I think it's a great product and I'm glad to have this in both my makeup wardrobe and medicine cabinet.

Now let me know what you think...

  1. See, and people were complaining about the size of this cover-up in the BA kits ;) I've only used this on covering blemishes, since I haven't gotten a "boo-boo" yet, but I cannot wait to see how it heals! I'm so glad you got the full size and did this review! :)

  2. @ Krystal Caracol: I agree that the sample in the BA kits looked tiny, but if anyone tries it, more than just swatching, they will see how little you need. That sample will last a long time itself, but this tube is going to last forever!! After I had such great results I knew I needed this full sized. My son loves it too (he's 6), and this has come in handy for all the scrapes and bruises a little boy gets. Our one dog (the chocolate lab that broke my nose) steps on all our feet on a daily basis. We've been applying this to the scrapes on our feet and it works like a charm!

  3. @ piukina: The winner will be announced on my blog once I have time to go through and verify all the entries. With over 5,000 entries it's taking a lot longer to verify everything!

  7. I haven't tried this but to be honest I'm a bit sceptical...while I would definitely use this for my bruises I don't think I could bring myself to put it over an open wound. It just seems like a better concealer but not something I would apply directly to my flesh. I'm a band aid kind of girl I guess...haha.

  8. @ Anca: lol, I can see your point of view. I too was skeptical, but really anything you would use Neosporin on you could use this. You wouldn't want to apply it to big open wounds, but smaller things - like knicks after shaving, paper cuts, scrapes, or acne - would be great to use this on.

  12. I got the sample and was happy with it. It was small yes but you don't need a ton of it which is nice. I really like it but haven't used it a ton yet to see if I love it =)
