Kiss Nail Dress - design KDS07 - pics, swatches, review

Hello, Beautiful!

On a recent CVS trip I stumbled upon a rack of Kiss Nail Dress. They were kind of in a random spot, so I was excited to find them and I was immediately drawn to one design - which doesn't have a name, but is called KDS07, and it is a jeweled design (they have both jeweled and non-jeweled designs). I was so excited to put these on and try them out, but my excitement ended while I was putting them on. I'll explain why in my review at the end of this post. For now, check out the pics....

Kiss Nail Dress After 4 Days & How To Remove:

Basic stats for Kiss Nail Dress:
Formula: nail sticker strips
Wear: wears up to 10 days
Shade Info: 18 designs shown in the packet
Cost/Availability: $6.99 is what CVS sold them for. Find at drugstores and other stores that sell Kiss.
Packaging: 28 strips, includes mini file
My Rating: 3 out of 5 Kisses

Formula:
Nail sticker strips that remove without nail polish remover (by peeling off).

Wear:
They wear up to 10 days, but I wore them for 4 days and had major tip wear with the jeweled design I chose.

Shade Info:
18 designs shown in the packet. There are several shades I really like, but I'm weary about how some will apply. The shade I chose looks pretty sheer in the close-up pics, but you can't tell in real life. It just looks like a silver background.

Cost/Availability:
$6.99 is what CVS sold them for. Find at drugstores and other stores that sell Kiss.

Packaging:
Includes 28 strips, which have a rounded side (for use on nails) and a squared side (for use on toes). Also included are the instructions and a mini file.

Kiss Nail Dress Review:
I really wanted to like these, I'll even go as far as saying I thought I would love them. But I just don't, at least not the design I chose. I've used Sally Hansen and Incoco nail strips in the past, so I'm comparing my experience with the Kiss Nail Dress to the others I've used.

One thing I didn't like from the start are the size of the strips. They aren't as long, so I only was able to get one use from each strip. With Sally Hansen Salon Effects and Incoco nail strips I'm able to use the same strip twice, getting way more use out of them.

Now here's where my excitement stopped... When I went to file off the excess I realized that they were a lot harder to rip off, requiring me to really file a lot of it off --which really screwed up my nail tips (you'll see that in the one close-up photo). On top of that, because of the design I chose, a lot of the round "jewels" were ripped off because they didn't file off smoothly. They actually wore really badly on the tips... leaving little open black circles where the "jewels" once were. I also keep putting "jewels" in quotes because they're not actual jewels in the fact that they are rhinestones or something like that. They are just raised areas that look like jewels.

I really love the design/pattern, but didn't like the way they went on or the way they wore. Taking them off was annoying too. Sure, you don't have to use nail polish remover, but I don't like to peel things off my nails. It makes my nails feel sensitive and I worry about damage. It didn't leave behind any damage (thankfully) but I couldn't wait to put base coat on my nails so they didn't feel so sensitive.

I really do think these nail strips are a great idea, but the jewel designs maybe need some work. I do think I'll try out another design or two, one that isn't as "jeweled" near the tips.

Now let me know what you think...
