Make Up For Ever La Boheme Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in Folk - swatches, pics, review

Hello, Beautiful!

I've been on a major lipstick kick lately, and one of the lipsticks I recently purchased is the Make Up For Ever La Boheme Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in the shade Folk. Their Rouge Artist Natural Lipsticks are newer; they've had their Rouge Artist Intense Lipsticks - which are very pigmented, but now they have a natural looking option. The La Boheme version has two limited shades - Boheme (which I also want) and Folk (which is what I'll show you in this post). In the future I'll share with you two of MUFE's Rouge Artist Natural shades (N11 and N35). For now, check out this pretty shade called Folk.

Make Up For Ever La Boheme Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick Review:
I really wanted to try this specific shade since the day I saw it on Sephora's website. As someone who doesn't wear red, this looked like a fresh, natural option to red that I could wear -- and I love the color! It looks brighter/deeper in tone in the tube than it does on the lips, and I like that. It goes on very creamy and smooth, and the color looks very natural in just one swipe.

You can build the color up slightly - of course if you want full color you would be better off getting MUFE's Rouge Artist Intense lipsticks, but this is a great option for those of us who like a more natural look. Great for those that aren't lipstick wearers because you don't like the full color.

The wear on this was just average - nothing long lasting, but it didn't fade in an instant. Of course how much you eat, drink, talk, kiss, etc. will affect how any lip product wears, so just re-apply as wanted/as needed.

Overall, I was really pleased with the formula, the color, and I can't wait to get the other two shades I ordered from the regular Rouge Artist Natural lipstick line!

Make Up For Ever Rock For Ever Eye Shadow Palette - swatches, pics, review

Hello, Beautiful!

I picked up this palette on Sephora's website when it was on sale and then I had an additional 20% off the sale items. I believe I paid around $23 for this palette, which is a great price considering all the shadows are full sized MUFE Ultra Shimmering Diamond Shadows - which are $19 each at full price! This is such a gorgeous palette of must-have shades. Since it's no longer available for purchase on Sephora's website this will be just a post with pictures and swatches of the palette. No review or stats this time around. But I can say I've been using this palette, the gray and black shades most, and I really like it.

Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation - shade 203 -- before & after, swatches, pics, review

Hello, Beautiful!

Make Up For Ever (MUFE) is one of my favorite brands of makeup and their Duo Mat Powder Foundation has been on my want list for a long time, yet for some reason I always passed it up. I like MUFE's Mat Velvet + Foundation, which is basically the liquid version of the Duo Mat Powder Foundation.

Check out my pics, before & after pics, swatches, stats, and review...

Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation
Shade: 203
Shade Description: Light Beige

Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation Before & After

Basic stats for Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation:
Formula: pressed powder foundation
Coverage: medium to full; buildable
Wear: long-wearing
Shade Info: 11 shades available
Cost/Availability: $32 (0.35 oz full size). Available on Sephora's website and everywhere else Make Up For Ever products are sold.
Packaging: round compact; includes a mirror inside compact and a sponge applicator underneath the powder
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Kisses!

Formula:
This is a press powder foundation, which is oil-free and long lasting. It will give your skin a matte finish while evening out your skin tone and covering most flaws. Best for those with normal to combo skin types.

Coverage:
I'm calling this a medium to full coverage foundation, which is buildable from sheer to full depending on application method. This powder has a lot of power to it because it has the ability to cover a lot, while also having the ability to be a sheer skin finisher to set makeup. I was impressed with the coverage.

Wear:
This is a long-wear foundation and I've put it to the test. It stayed nearly perfect for over 7 hours. During those 7 hours I spend several of them volunteering at my son's school -- and for some reason the heat was on blast in there. I was starting to sweat without moving; it was that hot. Then I came home, relaxed for a half hour before my son came home from school, then from 3pm till 7pm I was outside decorating my house for Halloween. I came back in and my makeup was still good!

Shade Info:
Currently there are 11 shades available. The shade I chose is 203 - Light Beige. In MAC foundation I'm around an NC30/NC25 and shade 203 in the Duo Mat Powder Foundation works beautifully for me.

Cost/Availability:
$32 (0.35 oz full size). Available on Sephora's website and everywhere else Make Up For Ever products are sold -- such as Make Up For Ever stand-alone stores.

Packaging:
Black round compact with a mirror on the inside. An included sponge applicator is underneath the powder.

Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation Review:
I had this foundation on my wish list for a long time, and I wish I had gotten it long ago. I really love this foundation because it applies nicely, covers well, and wears wonderfully.

My search for the perfect pressed powder foundation is over! I had tried a few pressed powder foundations and didn't fully like them for one reason or another. For example, Illamsqua's Powder Foundation was great at first. It had wonderful coverage but I did have issues finding a good shade match (I have 2 of their Powder Foundations because of it). I would have really loved them if it wasn't for how they wore. It went away so quickly, and not in a pretty way. It just didn't hold up. In all fairness it was the spring and summer months, so maybe I will re-try them now that it's colder and my skin isn't as oily. Then there was Dior's Forever Powder Foundation (I don't remember the exact name and Sephora no longer carries it; they have a new version). It covered so beautifully, pretty flawless, however I had a hell of a time finding a good shade match - which is something I often fight with Dior's foundations. On top of that, the fragrance was so strong I couldn't stand it (I'm really sensitive to fragrances). I also tried some drugstore brand powder foundations I already had but hadn't tried - one from Maybelline and one from L'Oreal; both were not good for coverage or wear.

I really like to have a good powder foundation in my makeup wardrobe because they are a quick and easy option. If I need to get out the door I can pull that out, use the sponge applicator and get out the door fast. They're easy for touch-up's on the go too. I'm still a liquid foundation type of gal, but I needed a great pressed powder foundation and I've found it with Make Up For Ever's Duo Mat Powder Foundation.

I'm so happy I have the Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation! I just hope it continues to impress me the way it has so far. I highly recommend checking it out!

Make Up For Ever VS. MAC: Face & Body Foundation comparison!

Hello, Beautiful!

I've gotten several emails asking which waterproof foundation I preferred: MAC's Face and Body Foundation or Make Up For Ever's Face & Body Liquid Makeup. Up until very recently I only had Make Up For Ever's version so I couldn't make any comment's on MAC's version. But now that I own both I'm finally able to answer that question.

Check out the links below for a full review and more swatches on each foundation individually.

Make Up For Ever Face & Body Liquid Makeup - OR - MAC Face and Body Foundation?

COVERAGE: Both versions offer sheer to light buildable coverage; practically identical in coverage level and the finish.

PACKAGING: I prefer Make Up For Ever's packaging/bottle over MAC's. Make Up For Ever has a pump-top (the older versions do not) and MAC has a squeeze bottle top.

CONSISTENCY: I prefer Make Up For Ever's consistency over MAC's. Make Up For Ever's is a water based gel foundation, which is lumpy in the bottle but when shaken is smooth and nice (blends in like a dream). MAC's consistency is smooth, but very runny; also blends in nicely.

SHADES: Shade selection is a little better with Make Up For Ever, having 16 shades. MAC has 13 shades. Those three extra shades may be the ones that suit you, but really you are likely to find a match with either brand due to how sheer the formulas are.

COST: MAC offers more product for your money, costing just $32.50 for 4 ounces. Make Up For Ever costs $38 for 1.69 ounces. You get more than twice that amount of product with MAC's version for less than the cost of Make Up For Ever's version (this would be a great money saver if you wanted to mainly use this on your body). For those like that like to see the numbers, if MAC offered the same sized bottle it would be priced around $13.71 - making it the much more affordable option between the two.

WEAR: Everyone's skin is different, so I can only speak on my personal experience with both versions. For my skin, Make Up For Ever's version works a lot better. It fully sets and feels dry on my skin, without using a setting powder. Whereas MAC's version doesn't ever feel fully set on my skin. I need to set it with a setting powder or it will not stay still on my skin; it will move. Make Up For Ever's version is slightly more transfer-proof, but they are pretty comparable in that area. On me, Make Up For Ever's version lasts way longer, looking consistent.

PRODUCT LONGEVITY: Overtime both formulas will separate in their bottles, but Make Up For Ever's can be shaken back to normal. I've heard (but do not know based on personal experience) that MAC's formula will not go back to normal after it separates (which can happen in about a year or if left in the heat it could happen sooner). I've only had my MAC Face and Body Foundation for about a month now so I have no idea if and when it would separate. I guess I'll have to report back in a year.

IN CONCLUSION: If I had to only buy one I would buy the Make Up For Ever version.
