Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Mercury: swatches, review

Hello, Beautiful!

I love Bobbi Brown's long-wear cream shadows! I wish I had more because they're really pretty and are really long-lasting. I only have one metallic long-wear cream shadow, but I do have two of her regular long-wear cream shadows (which I will make a separate post about in the future, although I already posted about the Velvet Plum shade back in March).

Check out my pics, swatches, stats, and review...

Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow
Shade: Mercury
Shade Description: A sparkling metallic smokey silver gray.

Basic stats for Bobbi Brown's Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow:
Formula: cream
Coverage: buildable
Wear: long-wearing
Shade Range: 12 shades available on Bobbi Brown's website
Container: square clear glass jar; circle opening; circle twist-off lid
Cost: $22 for 0.12 oz full size
Availability: buy on Bobbi Brown's website and high end beauty retailers
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Kisses!

Formula:
A beautiful cream shadow formula that will last all day and stay crease-proof all day.

Coverage:
You can build the coverage on these shadows very easily, and depending on your application method you can get sheer to medium coverage from the start. If you build up the intensity just allow 30 seconds between thin layers.

Wear:
They have "long-wear" in the name for a reason; they last!! I don't even need to use a primer with these and they'll be on until I take them off. I've even worn these to the amusement park on a hot, sweaty, humid, day full of roller coasters and water rides; this shadow stayed in place.

Shade Range:
There are 12 metallic shades available on Bobbi Brown's website (she also makes her regular long-wear cream shadows). Out of the metallic shades there are a few more I have on my wish list, which include: Black Pearl, Chrome Patina, and Starry Purple. The shade I have, Mercury, is absolutely beautiful. A perfect sparkly smokey silver gray; and I say smokey because on the eyes it can look slightly smokey in a good way.

Container:
A square bottom clear jar with a round opening; twist-off round lid.

Cost/Availability:
Each metallic cream shadow will cost $22, which is pricey but well worth it. You can buy these directly from Bobbi Brown's website and many other high end beauty retailers.

Review:
I am in love with gray shades for my eyes. If I can only afford to pick out one shade it's usually a gray. I already owned Bobbi Brown's regular long-wear cream shadows but wanted to try a metallic version, especially the Mercury shade (I had my eye on it for awhile).

Just like with her regular long-wear cream shadows, the metallic long-wear cream shadow is very long lasting, goes on easily and is buildable. They are sheerer than the regular versions, but I like that. I love the sparkle these provide; very pretty and fun!

I would recommend these to anyone looking for a beautiful, fun, sparkly eye that is long lasting.

Now let me know what you think...
Do you own this cream shadow? If so, what are your thoughts? If not, is this something you'd want to own?

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Velvet Plum: Swatches & Review

Hello, Beautiful!

I picked up Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear Cream Shadow in a mini-set from QVC - which included her gel eyeliner in black (which I LOVE), her Party Mascara in black (mini sized), and a duo-ended mini brush (I think it was around $36/$38 for everything). You can pick up that set on QVC's website for $39.12, or the same set in different colors on QVC's website
for $43.00. The value of the set is decent, but not amazing. The cream shadow sells alone for $22 and the gel eyeliner sells alone for $21, so right there is basically the price of the kit - then you get a mini Party Mascara and a mini duo-ended brush (both of which you cannot buy on their own, at least not on QVC or in mini sizes). But even if you weren't saving anything at all (but you are), it would be worth it for just the cream shadow and gel eyeliner by themselves!

This is my first Bobbi Brown eyeshadow of any kind, and I have to say, I like it! It's really easy to work it; basically mistake proof color. It's long lasting too, even without an eyeshadow primer. I actually want more of her cream shadows; they may be my favorite cream shadows ever! I just like the way they apply, the way they look and the way they wear.

Although the color is called "Velvet Plum", I would say it's more of a brown, not a plum. It looks different in the jar and on my eyes than it did when I watched it on QVC (which is something many people complained of, so I'm pretty sure the color was slightly different on TV than what everyone actually received). Still, I like the color a lot. The swatch of the color is also a bit bolder than what it will go on with one coat. It's not as BAM!, in your face dark brown (although it can be if you layer it). I do like it the way it looks on me; it's an amped up neutral that goes well with my medium skintone and brown eyes.

Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long-Lasting Foundation: Swatches, Review, Before & After

Hello, Beautiful!

I've had this Bobbi Brown foundation for several months and just recently started to use it. The coverage level isn't totally there for what I need, so I think that's why it just sat in my makeup drawer, but I still really like this foundation and can get away with wearing it under something else (like Bare Minerals), or just use a great concealer with it.

It comes in a glass container with a pump:

Bobby Brown Natural Finish Long-Lasting Foundation in Warm Beige 3.5

My Before & After
[yes, my skin is horrible]

Review:
This foundation is called "Natural Finish" for a reason; it really does give you a natural finish. The foundation melts into your skin, making it nearly undetectable - even in direct sunlight! There is a really great range of shades (18), so you should not have a hard time finding a great skin match.

It goes on nicely too and does last a decent amount of time, which says a lot considering most foundations go away within a couple of hours due to my oily skin.

The coverage level for this can be sheer to medium, depending on how you apply it. As you can see from the Before & After photo above, the coverage level is not enough for me, but it helps out greatly. I like this foundation so much that I will work with it so I'm able to wear it. You can layer this foundation without any problems, which is something I usually do on my cheeks and middle of my forehead just to get better coverage. The way I applied it in the "After" photo above is just using my fingers, no layering. However, I prefer to use a flat foundation brush - like my MAC 190 - to apply this foundation. Any way you choose to apply this (sponge, fingers, flat foundation brush, stippling brush, etc.) you'll be just fine.

Overall I would highly recommend this!

I picked this foundation on up QVC.com for $45

Review: Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing Foundation

Hello, Beautiful!

I recently decided it was time to try a new brand of foundation, and I was in a funk for awhile not knowing which brand or formula to choose. Then I watched QVC one night (I swear, I'm addicted to QVC) and Bobbi Brown was on. I don't think this foundation was on air, if it was I missed it, but I found it online for $45. Since it was on easy pay (I believe it was three easy payments) I didn't even hesitate to purchase this. It was mine! :)

Selecting a shade online wasn't the easiest. QVC didn't have the best shade descriptions (although still helpful - you just need to click on the "shade finder" tab). So naturally I Google searched for swatch photos but didn't come up with very many for this particular foundation. In the end I decided on Warm Beige 3.5 - which just happens to be a perfect match for me! I was really happy that it matched my skintone because I really wasn't looking forward to making any returns.

I received this foundation today and I couldn't wait to put it on. This is my first Bobbi Brown foundation and I have to say, I'm very impressed! First of all, it glides on so easily and blends like a dream. It gives you a natural luminous finish, almost dewy.

In the photo below I spread the foundation around on my hand. You can kind of see the luminous finish it gives you (the shade looks a little pale in that photo, but my hand is darker than my face).

It gives you medium coverage, but I layered it in areas I needed a little more. It didn't cake when I layered it, which is very important to me, and it worked well with my concealer. I set it with my Mally Poreless Perfection Skin Finisher.

I put this foundation on around 1pm EST and it's now over 7 hours later. It still looks fresh and pretty - nothing moved around, nothing faded away. It's a tad bit shiny, but considering everything I had to do today I'm surprised it stayed on at all, so the shine really doesn't bother me. The photo below was taken around the 7 and a half hour mark of wearing this foundation.

[Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked Palette using shades Virgin, Sin and Sidecar. Liner: Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero. Mascara: Mally Volumizing Mascara. Brows: Smashbox Brow Tech To-Go in Brunette. Lips: nothing on them at the moment, and no blush either.]

This foundation is supposed to be for normal to dry to very dry skin - but I have combo skin and it works just fine (and most products can slip around my face). I'd highly recommend this foundation to anyone! This is such a pretty foundation; the swatch photos really do not do it justice!

Have you tried this foundation? If so, what are your thoughts?
