Dorfman Pacific Scala Collezione Collection - Fall/Winter 2013 - Boiled Wool Rosette Headband - pics, review

Hello, Beautiful!

Cold weather is here, at least here in Virginia, and it's time for warm weather gear. Why not keep it cute with the Dorfman Pacific Scala Collezione Collection Fall/Winter 2013 Boiled Wool Rosette Headband - which will keep your ears warm. I have it in the shade Charcoal, but other shades are available. Check out my full review, including all the product info, after the pics!

Dorfman Pacific - Scala Collezione Collection
Fall/Winter 2013
Boiled Wool Rosette Headband

Dorfman Pacific Scala Collezione Collection Fall/Winter 2013 Boiled Wool Rosette Headband Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $30.00. Available on the Hatford York website.
My Rating: 4 out of 5 Kisses

From the Fall/Winter Scala Collezione collection, boiled wool hats and headbands are the savvy consumer's choice in weather resistant and fashion headwear. The eco-friendly process of altering the material eliminates the usage of harsh chemicals while effectively shrinking the wool. Subsequently, the heat traps air chambers, forming a natural barrier against hot and cold temperatures and wind. This technique matched with Dorfman Pacific's keen eye for design and artistry creates the ultimate cold weather accessory. The felt like texture is softer, warmer and eliminates the itchy feeling associated with wool.

The new headband embellished with rosettes is a must have. A contemporary piece and a novel alternative to traditional hats. Available in 5 colors: black, charcoal, ivory, wine and chocolate. Style # LW566

I was sent this to test drive in the Charcoal color choice. At first I wasn't sure if it was really my style, but I loved how much better it looked in person compared to the photos online. It's cute, warm, and really isn't itchy - but does still have a wool texture.

It keeps my ears very warm and doesn't give me hat hair - so that's a huge plus! I do think the $30 price tag is a big much for an ear warmer (essentially) BUT it is very well made and good quality. Plus, I've seen headbands like this retail for much higher. Certainly worth checking out if you're looking for a cute cold-weather accessory! Would be great to wear to outdoor sporting events, going for walks, and just general everyday keep-me-warm use!

Hairdo by HairUWear Clip-In Bang & French Braid Band - pics, before & after, reviews

Hello, Beautiful!

Earlier this month I posted a blog post giving three tips if you're trying to grow out your bangs. I said I would be doing a review on the Clip-In Bangs and the French Braid Band, so here is my review post on them!

I will say right now that I am NOT someone who should ever have bangs. I have a small shaped head for an adult (hats are always too big, sunglasses never look right, etc.) and my forehead is just not long enough to pull off bangs. I warn you now that I will look like a dirty rocker or like Moe from the three stooges in my "after" pics wearing the Clip-In Bangs, lol. It probably doesn't help that I really didn't have makeup on either. I am thankful to have products like the Hairdo by HairUWear Clip-In Bangs that allow me to experiment without the commitment, because let me tell you, if I had actually gone and gotten bangs I would be hating myself for that decision!

To see those oh-so-pretty (heavy sarcasm) photos, along with my photos of the French Braid Band - which I actually liked - keep scrolling down!

Cost/Availability: $29.00. Available at Ulta, at Wigs.com, and everywhere else Hairdo by HairUWear is sold.
My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Kisses

This 5" long blunt but bang with 9.5" face framing sides gives any woman bangs without the commitment of cutting her hair! Available in 11 salon inspired colors.

Wow, okay.... so like I mentioned at the start of this post, I am NOT the right person for bangs. I just don't have the head shape for them to properly pull them off. I think I looked like someone who hasn't washed or done their hair in years! I just don't look right with bangs. Try as I might, even trying to put my hair up in a ponytail, bangs are just not a style for me - and I'm okay with that, because these are no-commitment bangs. Easy snap-in and snap out.

I may try to still work with these... I may do a little snip-snip and cut them down because they are very long and start pretty far back on my head that it looks really bizarre on me. I will still try to get these to look good but I just pretty much come to accept what I've always thought; I can't have bangs! I had bangs in elementary school and never since, other than long, side swept bangs!

There are two longer pieces on each side of the bangs, which is a cute idea to help blend in with your regular hair, but I do find that it mixes in with the regular bangs easily and makes them a bit annoying to deal with -- although that could just be because I don't have bangs and aren't used to pieces like that. The actual bangs aren't as full as I had hoped, so it looks really piecey on me and I think that also contributes to the weird look; they certainly don't look as full as they do on the model shown on the package/website.

I do want to mention that I tried these out on two other friends, and they have "normal" sized adult heads, lol, and these bangs looked amazing on one of them and just okay on the other. So they are a great tool to quickly and easily change up your look - but if you have a tiny head, like myself, or a tiny forehead, you may want to skip this piece.

Either way, it's a great no-commitment way to try a new hair style. You may love the way you look in bangs but hate the grow-out stage, so you could keep them grown out and just go with this no-commitment piece.

I did rate these a 3.5 out of 5 Kisses because even though they didn't personally work for me (and oh how badly they didn't work for me), I do think they will look great on many people. They may be a little long, so don't be afraid to have your hair stylist trim them down (don't attempt to do it yourself unless you know what you're doing).

Hairdo by HairUWear French Braid Band Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $10.00. Available at Ulta, at Wigs.com, and everywhere else Hairdo by HairUWear is sold.
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Kisses

An attach-in-an-instant braided headband that provides a fabulous hair fashion accent. Available in 6 salon inspired colors.

I really like this cute braided band. It couldn't be easier to use; you wear it just like you would a headband. It has an adjustable strap, just like a bra. I do have a tiny head, so I had to tighten this down to the tightest setting (and it was still slightly loose). If I have my hair back in a ponytail I do need to secure this with a bobby pin, just to keep it in place (just remember I have a tiny head; you may not need to). When I wear my hair down I don't bobby pin it in place because it stays pretty well - but of course if you feel you need to use a bobby pin or two, go for it.

For just $10 I'd recommend picking this up because it's an easy way to add a flirty touch to your hair!

Maddyloo Mini Heart Box in Silver Orchid - hair ties - pics, review

Hello, Beautiful!

By now most of you have seen those elastic stretchy hair ties, and the Maddyloo brand has some of the cutest ones I've seen. A great way to try them out is with their mini heart boxes - each having a color theme and containing 7 hair ties. Check out my full review below, including all the product info, after the pics.

Maddyloo Mini Heart Box
Style: Silver Orchid

Maddyloo Mini Heart Box Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $15.00 (per box of 7 hair ties). Available on the Maddyloo website and everywhere else Maddyloo is sold. Click here to find a retailer near you.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Kisses!

Each mini heart box contains 7 hair ties. They come in a variety of different themed packs - currently there are 15 different mini heart boxed themed/colored sets. I have Silver Orchid, which I'll go into detail below as to which are included, but I'd also love to try Chocolate Kiss, Safari, Kiss & Tell, and Mermaid.

In the Silver Orchid mini heart box you will receive:

  • 1 original hair tie with a rhinestone donut bead - I believe the hair tie color is mauve and the rhinestone donut bead color is dark amethyst.
  • 4 glitter hair ties -  I believe the hair tie colors are white, silver, black (or black/silver), fuchsia.
  • 1 original hair tie - I believe the color is mauve
  • 1 striped hair tie - half glitter, half regular - not sure of color on their website; think it is silver/cream

Besides wearing these as a great hair tie, that won't leave that awful dent in your hair, you could also wear these as a bracelet.

I think the Maddyloo website offers really cute hair ties! The mini heart boxes are super cute and would make a great party favor/gift to give out at a little girls birthday party, to your bridesmaids, and any other reason to gift someone something cute!

I recommend checking out the Maddyloo website to see all the great hair tie options they offer, especially these cute mini heart boxes!

HairUWear by HairDo 18" Beach Curl Pony in Chocolate Copper - before & after, pics, review

Hello, Beautiful!

On lazy days I like to pull my hair back into a ponytail, but sometimes those lazy days aren't so lazy when I need to run out to do some errands. When I need to fix my hair in a flash I reach for my HairUWear by HairDo 18" Beach Curl Pony, which is super easy to use and instantly adds something to my otherwise limp, fine, hair. I don't even have to curl my hair first because this wrap-on ponytail extension covers my hair beautifully.

Check out my pics, before & after pics, info, and review... click on pics to view them larger.

HairUWear by HairDo 18" Beach Curl Pony Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $49.00. Available at Ulta and on Ulta's website, as well as everywhere else HairUWear by HairDo is sold.
My Rating: 4 out of 5 Kisses

The HairUWear by Hair Do 18" Beach Curl Pony reflects the latest salon trend towards soft, tousled beach hair waves. Available in 11 salon inspired colors.

I have this in Chocolate Copper, which works well for my hair. Midnight Brown probably would have also been a great match for me.

This is really easy to apply; there are step-by-step instructions included or CLICK HERE to see a how-to video from the HairDo website.

I did think this was a bit heavy in my thin hair, but feels secure when using the two included bobby pins. After awhile you don't notice it but it is a lot of hair for someone like me who doesn't have much volume/thickness even though I have some length.

This is such an easy way to make your hair look more complete even when you're having a lazy hair day. Plus, there is no time taken to curl you hair! In about 2 minutes you're out the door with a pretty, beachy curled ponytail.
