Silk Naturals Chromatic Cream Eye Color Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $4.99 each (4.5 ml full size). Available on the Silk Naturals website.
My Rating: 4 out of 5 Kisses

Silk Natural's Chromatic Cream Eye Colors are luminous, well-pigmented, and smudge-proof but not waterproof. 100% naturally derived formula. No parabens, silicones, oils, or petroleum products like isododecane. Travel friendly and no-fall out.

Silica helps absorb excess oil to help keep it crease-free for hours. If you have really oily lids you may still need a separate primer. Vegan and gluten-free. Comes in a lipgloss-like tube with a doe-foot applicator. Shelf life is suggested at 6 months once opened.

Available in 20 shades. I have four shades: Electric, Soho, Tribecca, Gotham (which I'll describe the shades below), but I'd also love to try Marvel, Brighton, Brownstone, Gramercy, and Penthouse.

Shade descriptions of the 4 shades I own:
  • Electric: an incredible vibrant blue color with an almost metallic finish. Makes a great eyeliner too!
  • Soho: a medium taupe shade with very slight glints of gold. It has a full coverage luminous creamy - almost powdery finish. Soho may look too dark when just swatched on your hand, but it's not on the lid - where it brings light and a sexy shimmer to the eyes.
  • Tribecca: a very pale gold with golden interference and a pearl finish. IT's sheer, brightening and makes a gorgeous highlight.
  • Gotham: a deep, dirty grey with a hint of brown shade with a shimmery finish.
These have okay pigmentation on their own - more on the sheer side. You'll want to build them in layers if you want a more intense, opaque color pay off. These colors, once dry, are very stay-put on their own.

Even though these are called cream shadows, I would classify them more as liquid shadows. The product itself has a doe-foot applicator, which I'm not a fan of for cream/liquid type shadows but I know it's the easiest method to application for this style packaging. They're easy to use - I prefer to apply some to my lid and then blend with a brush or my fingers. OR, if using as an eyeliner, I will take a brush directly to the doe-foot applicator and apply in that manner.

The packaging is simple and would be easy to store or take along with you because of their smaller, thin size. The label is really cute - I love the colorfulness of the words against the black background. I did forget to photograph these from the bottom, which allows you to see the color inside.

The shade Electric is a stunning electric blue. If you like vibrant electric blues you MUST own this one!

Gotham and Soho are great everyday neutrals that are that perfect mix between brown, gray and taupe - these two shades are great for daytime or nighttime looks.

The shade Tribecca is a great pale golden shade that is gorgeous on its own, as an inner corner color, or as a highlight shade on top (or underneath) of other shades.

Overall, I really liked all four of these shades and would love to try even more. Would recommend if you like this formula of eyeshadow!

Silk Naturals Summer 2013 Vegan Lipsticks - Jane, Lois, Wham, Zing - pics, swatches, review

Hello, Beautiful!

Back in March I reviewed six shades of eyeshadow from Silk Naturals. Now I'm reviewing four shades of their Vegan Lipsticks from their Summer 2013 collection. This collection has some great fun colors that are perfect for summer. I have shades Jane, Lois, Wham and Zing. Shades Jane and Lois have more normal, simple packaging, but shades Wham and Zing have bright, colorful, fun comic-book style packaging - which I personally love. Check out my full review, and all the product info, after the pics.

Silk Naturals Summer 2013 Vegan Lipsticks Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $4.75 each. Available on the Silk Naturals website.
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Kisses

Silk Naturals new creamy stay-put formula is moisturizing, comfortable and lasts a few hours. You can blot it to make it more matte, or set it with a little blush to make it last for ages. It's richly pigmetned, and has a shelf life of at least a year (2 or 3 years wouldn't be surprising). Vegan & Gluten Free. Made with over 80% organic ingredients.

There are 8 shades in total for the Summer 2013 Collection:  Jane, Velma, Lois, Sheena, Wham, Vroom, Zing, Zap. I have four of them.

Shade descriptions of the four I own:
  • Jane: a vivid creamy coral with a little bit of shimmer, cooler toned highlights, and full on coverage.
  • Lois: a creamy nudeish pink color with a hint of subtle shimmer and full coverage.
  • Wham: a bright reddish purple; bold, super-pigmented, and has good coverage -- not super heavy, but good. It does stain for color that lasts and lasts.
  • Zing: a vivid warm full coverage red lipstick; ultra-pigmented, and leaves a stain on your lips for hours and hours of wear.
Out of the four shades I have, Lois is the most 'everyday wearable' for me. Jane is another great shade for more everyday. Where as shades Wham and Zing are more bold, in your face colors.

The swatches on the Silk Naturals website gave me a slightly different impression of the shades. For example, Wham looked a bit more pink fuchsia but it's more of a purple berry. And Zing looked like a pinky neon orange, but it's really a red. Jane seemed like a vibrant neon pink but was more of a medium everyday bright pink with shimmer. And the shade Lois seemed like a vibrant pink coral shade but is more of a neutral pink shade. Shades Jane and Lois were the two most off from the swatches on their website; I highly suggest you go by the descriptions more than the actual swatch photos -- or the circle photo of what the lipstick looks like - which seem more accurate.

The formula is nice -- it's a little soft so it can smash down really easily, so be careful with how much you twist up to use. Goes on smooth and feels comfortable on the lips.

They're really affordable too - just $4.75 each. The lipstick tubes are not your typical lipstick shape -- they are thin tubes, in chapstick like form.

Overall, I think this is a fun collection and they make me want to try even more. I'd recommend checking this collection out!

Silk Naturals Eyeshadow - 6 shades - pics, swatches, review

Hello, Beautiful!

I love mineral eyeshadow because it's well pigmented and easy to work with. I always like to try new brands out, and in this post I'll share with you a new-to-me brand, Silk Naturals. Their mineral eyeshadow is super affordable at just $4 each, and available in over 300 shades. I have six shades to share with you in this post: Crush, Kingfisher, Black Ice, Idolize, Kickstart, and Quantum. Out of those six shades, my top three favorites are Kingfisher, Black Ice, and Crush. Let me know what your favorite shade is!

Silk Naturals Eyeshadow Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $4.00 (full size jar). Available on the Silk Naturals website. Visit www.silknaturals.com
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Kisses!

Carefully crafted and exquisitely beautiful, loose mineral eye shadows. All the Silk Naturals eyeshadows are gluten free and contain approximately 3/4 teaspoon packaged in a 5 gram jar. They mark vegan colors on their website with an asterisk (*). Available in over 300 shades!

These mineral shadows are affordable and really nice quality. They have good pigmentation on their own, but really stand out with applied over primer or applied wet.

I really like all six shades I have, but my top three favorites (in no particular order) are Kingfisher, Black Ice, and Crush. Although now that I mention my favorites I feel bad for the other three shades because I like them almost equally as much! With over 300 shades to choose from, I have so many more shades on my wish list - like Sinner, Taffeta, Flash, Flourish, Carbon, Catalyst, Chocolate Twinkle, Mazel Tov, and so, so, so many more! If I weren't on a beauty budget right now I'd be placing a large order, but I'm trying not to spend any money on beauty products until the end of April - eek! I don't think I can do that. As soon as my buying hold is up, or until I can't wait anymore, I'm going to place an order for at least 10 more shades.

One thing I do want to mention about Silk Naturals is they offer a points & rewards program. For each dollar you spend you get one point. When you reach 100 points you get a $5 gift certificate to use towards products. It's a nice little perk if you plan to buy a lot or make frequent purchases. For full info on their points & rewards program click here.

Another cool thing about their website is for example, for their eyeshadows they take the time to list a lot about the color. They will list the Color Family, Finish, Depth (1-6), Shimmer Scale (0-6), Opacity (0-5), Vegan or Not, Tone, Original Collection the shade belonged to, and if it's Gluten Free. Now they do this for every single color, but for most they do.

So for example...

Crush is in the Pink color family, with a Shimmer finish, it has a depth of 1, a shimmer scale of 5, an opacity score of 2, is Vegan, originally from the Valentine 2009 collection, and is gluten free.

Kingfisher is in the Blues color family, with a Eyelight finish, it has a depth of 5, a shimmer scale of 5, an opacity score of 4, is Vegan, originally from the Fall 2011 collection, and is gluten free. (This shade also listed the tone as Green).

Black Ice is in the Blues color family, with a Glimmer finish, it has a depth of 5, a shimmer scale of 4, an opacity score of 3, is Vegan, originally from the Holiday 2011 collection, and it gluten free.

Idolize is in the Silvers & Greys color family, with a Demi Matte finish, it has a depth of 3, a shimmer scale of 4, an opacity score of 4, is not Vegan, and is gluten free. (This shade did not list what collection is originally was from).

Kickstart is in the Neutrals color family, has a Shimmer finish, it has a depth of 3, a shimmer scale of 4, an opacity score of 3, is Vegan, originally from the Fall 2011 collection, and is gluten free. (This shade also listed the tone as Neutral).

The above info wasn't listed for the shade Quantum.

Overall, I really liked these mineral shadows and would recommend giving this brand a try!
