Hello, Beautiful!

I have another lip product from the French brand Votre Vu. In this post I'll show you their French Kiss Moisture Riche Lipstick. I have two shades: Lisette and Colette. Both shades are in the nude category, but on my skintone I'm only a fan of Lisette. I like the formula of these lipsticks - they go on smooth and feel hydrating. My Review...

At first glance, both shades look way darker than I'd normally choose for a lipstick. Upon swatching and how they look on my lips, I fell in love with one shade and the other shade just wasn't flattering on my skintone.

The shade Lisette is a gorgeous nude! It looks a lot more brown and dark in the tube than it actually goes onto the lips. It has a more pinky tone to it when swatched and on the lips - which makes it oh so beautiful, in my opinion. I absolutely fell in love with the shade Lisette. It's one of those perfect nudes that looks great on its own, but what I really love to do is top it with the Votre Vu Lip Lustre Vitamin E Lip Gloss in the shade Tender. Those two together is pure nude lips heaven!

The shade Colette is a darker, browner shade with a slight frosty sheen to it. It also pulls a bit orange on me when I swatch it or wear it - but not straight up orange, just more of a brown frost nude with a slight orange undertone. It went on a bit patchy in one area of my lip, as you can see in the lip swatch pics, but I believe that has more to do with my lip condition at the time and less to do with the actual lipstick. Colette, while I can appreciate the shade on its own, just isn't my cup of tea - but I could see how this could be a perfect nude for those with deeper skintones. It's also a nice fall/winter shade. I just haven't worn it since swatching it.

I will say online their swatches don't really do the shades justice. Lisette is shown online as more of a dark mauvey rose and even described as a "cool & creamy, chic muted rose" but I find it to be more of a pinky brown nude that's not too dark. Based on the shade descriptions, I'd want to also try Babette, Loulou, and Annette.

The formula of these lipsticks are really nice, as they go on smooth and feel hydrating on the lips. They do have a slight minty fresh tingle/taste/smell - which doesn't bother me and quickly goes away. I know some people aren't into mint anything for their lip products, so if that's an issue that bothers you then you may want to skip out on these. If you don't mind a little mint feel/taste/smell for a minute or two then you'll probably love this formula of lipsticks -- and the shade Lisette.

Votre Vu - Palette Play Eye Shadow Quad in Nude, & Shadow Single in Endless Summer: pics, swatches, reviews

Hello, Beautiful!

In this post I have the Votre Vu Palette Play Eye Shadow Quad Palette in the combo Nude. It unfortantely arrived damaged; the darkest shade was broken and got all over everything. I cleaned it up the best I could to photograph it and play with it, and I'm so happy with the palette regardless that the one shade was broken (there is still plenty of shadow left from the broken shade to use). The four shades in the Nude palette are so wearable and you can really wear them all together or combined with other shadows. Check out all the product info, along with my full review, after the pics!

Product Info...

Lacking an art degree or refined pedigree? No worries. With Vu's well-curated, exquisite pigments, there are no mistakes, just masterpieces. Discover your inner Degas as you dip your brush in the silky palette, an artistic blend of stabilizing vitamin E, jojoba oil and kaolin clay that imparts long-lasting, crease-proof color to the delicate eyelid.

Elegantly milled, these striking shadows present three finishes: matte for color play, satin for definition and shimmer for highlights. Mixed with healthy, premium minerals, Palette Play's formulas deflect light from fine lines, projecting a youthful vibrancy while guarding against the sun. Each shade is free of talc, fragrance, low-cost minerals and other common irritants for a calm, colored canvas.

  • Copper: highlights four glamorous gem tones. Shades are: Linen, Gilt, Copper Suede, Indigo.

My Review...

Normally I photograph all items before I ever swatch them or test them out, because I like to get what I call "product perfect" photos. Since this palette arrived broken I already knew I wasn't going to have it my way this time around. Not knowing what exactly was broken, I opened the palette - thinking all four shades were in pieces - but found only one shade was the broken one. Of course it was the darkest shade that had to break, creating the biggest mess among the rest of the items that I was sent, as well as my photographing area, clothes and hands. I dumped it into the trash to get as much loose shadow out, then used q-tips to clean up the other three shadows and the rest of the palette. That's why none of the shades have that picture perfect look to them because I swiped a q-tip over the top of each shadow to clean the darker shade off of them.

Once the mess was cleaned up I could finally get on with photographing and swatching them. First impression of the shades is they are really pretty. Yes, they're neutrals and I have many neutral palettes and shades in my collection (I bet I could even find dupes if I really wanted to), but I felt that this palette contained four neutrals that were really usable and perfectly matched together.

They have a really nice texture. In my notes I wrote down smooth, silky/creamy texture. They have nice pigmentation on their own, but I find they apply and show up even better when used over a primer. For the purpose of my swatch photos I used the Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

I'm not sure exactly which shade is which, but the bottom right shade (the taupey brown shimmer) is my favorite and looks great all over the lid. The matte cream shade is a great brown bone highlight and inner corner matte highlight. The matte brown/camel shade is great to blend out the crease; it's almost too light to be a crease color for my skintone but just dark enough that I can use it there. If I used it on my eyelid it would hardly look like anything. But it's a great blending shade for me. The darkest shade is pretty to define the outer-v or outer corner. It reminds me a bit of the shade Hustle from Urban Decay. They're probably the closest dupes for each other that I can think of off the top of my head (and I just swatched them both side by side on my hand to confirm with myself, and yes, they are practically identical).

I will say the price point - $42 - is kind of high for just four shadows. That comes to $10.50 per shadow - which if you buy one of the Votre Vu shadows on their own, it's $19 a piece. Maybe if the shades were super unique I could see paying a bit more just for having something completely unique in your collection, but $42 for four neutral shades is a bit hard to justify the price, especially when $42 can get you a Lorac Pro Palette or close to getting an Urban Decay Naked palette, where you'll get way more shades. I do think these are quality shadows though. The quality isn't in question at all. If you are one of the Votre Vu Brand Ambassadors you can get this palette for $29.40, which is more reasonable in price ($7.35 per shadow).

They do sell re-fills for this shadow palette for $36.00 ($25.20 Brand Ambassador price).

I do like this shadow palette and have been playing with it. I think you can get a complete look with just these four shades, but I find myself liking to pair this with other shadows. The other two shadow palettes they have look pretty, but the Nudes are definitely more my style. If I were to ever get another one of their palettes, I'd probably go for the Copper palette!

My Review...

I'm guessing there will be more shades added, because right now the shade Endless Summer is the only eye shadow single they sell.

Endless Summer is described as reminiscent of the rich, lustrous interior of a French Polynesian sea shell, Votre Vu's shimmery Endless Summer shadow is a taupe-tinged suntan bronze with a mix of both warm and cool tones.

I like this shade a lot, as I think it's a really pretty bronzy neutral taupey brown. It's not incredibly unique but it's certainly worthy of having in your collection if you're into those type of shades. Same texture, performance and pigmentation as the palette quad listed above, so I won't sound like a broken record repeating the same thing over.

Votre Vu - Vu-On Rouge Sheer Moisture Color Accent for Lips & Face: pics, swatches, review

Hello, Beautiful!

In this post I'm going to share with you a product that really impressed me, and I think I was so impressed because I typically really dislike this type of product  - especially when used on my lips - but I found this product to be a winner! The product I'm talking about is the Votre Vu Vu-On Rouge Sheer Moisture Color Accent for Lips & Face. This is one of those 2-in-1 sticks that you can use as a cream blush or as a lip color. Since I'm not a fan of cream blushes, I only use this type of product on my lips (even if I test it on my cheeks for review purposes, I never end up using it for blush). Normally this type of product feels dry, thick, or just plain weird on the lips, which in turn means I end up never using it. However, when I put the Votre Vu one on my lips I was pleasantly surprised - both by the color and the feel! Check out my full review, along with the product info, after the pics!

Product Info...

Your skin takes stage with a kick of color from Vu-On Rouge Sheer Moisture Tint. Just a simple swish of this multi-tasking pop-up stick bestows a fetching and flirty flush to cheeks, lips, lids and facial contours.

Blended with hydrating shea and exotic antioxidant-rich mango seed butters, Vu's ravishing rouge spreads smoothly over skin, creating a dewy luster and irresistible airbrushed finish. Without creasing or caking, this long-wearing plant based pigment evokes renewed vitality to your visage and wouldn't dare settle into fine lines. Skin-conditioning jojoba and castor seed oils step in for a finished formula that naturally flatters, stabilizes and protects.

Available in 4 shades. The shades and their descriptions, as listed on the Votre Vu website, are listed below.
  • Ma Cherry: a sweet and classic cherry blue-red hue that becomes every skin tone.
  • French Tulip: a cheerful warm and naturally flattering bronze-peach glow de l'ete.
  • Bouquet Rose: a delicate, cool and romantic pale pink that will warm hearts with its barely-there beauty.
  • Amourette: a neutral mid-tone pink that brightens every complexion with a dreamy summer-crush flush.

My Review...

As I stated at the top of this post, I normally hate the way this type of product feels on the lips. I know a lot of people are big fans of cream blushes, but it's just not my jam. I definitely prefer a powder blush anytime, anywhere. So when I do have this type of 2-in-1 product, made for cheeks and lips, I only end up using it on my lips. Sure, I'll often test it out on my cheeks for review purposes, but I never ever wear it out on my cheeks and I'll explain why later in this review.

Even though a lot of the products similar to this that I've tried can have really pretty colors, and even look nice on the lips, it's how they feel that often makes me not want to actually use them on the lips -- which in turn makes the entire product useless to me.

I find they often feel dry, thick, even a bit paste-like on the lips. Just really not moisturizing or comfortable at all. This product, however, felt really good going onto my lips! I can best describe it as a water-like gel feeling. It was very weightless and thin, yet creamy and smooth.

The color does look a lot darker in the tube than it will look on your cheeks blended out, or on your lips. This shade in particular, Ma Cherry, is described as a sweet and classic cherry blue-red hue that becomes every skin tone. I find that on my lips I can get this to look really natural - like a perfect pink, just gorgeous shade. It can go deeper to a more berry shade, that is equally as pretty. In the swatch photos above, it's shown with a lighter application but it can go as dark as a berry red shade on me. I find lip products like this pull a little different in color on everyone depending on your own natural lip hue.

The way I think I like to apply this best is when it's a bit warmed up, so either I'll rub this onto the back of my hand (which is the messier way about it) and rub my finger back and forth to warm it up, then apply straight to my lips with my finger. I find this method just melts it in even better. You don't have to warm it up on the back of your hand either - you could just let it sit in a sunny spot by a window while you get ready or near a light that may be close to where you get ready, or just rub your finger on the product itself until it becomes softer and creamier. You can of course apply directly from the tube, but keep in mind this is a chubby stick of color so you won't get the best precision and you'll still need to use your finger or a lip brush to blend it out to the edges of your lips and make it look good.

The texture of this product is very creamy and gel-like. It does have a lot of pigmentation, so a little will go a long way. As far as scent goes, there is a scent but I couldn't really specify what it was. I think it may be a cherry vanilla scent - but don't take my word for that. It's a light scent, so it won't be over whelming either way.

Even though the product applies and feels the best on my lips out of any similar product that I've tried, it's by no means a magic lip balm or overly moisturizing. You may feel like you want to apply a lip balm or gloss over top once it kind of dries down a bit and sets in. It will just depend on your type of lips and level of dryness.

Because this shade in particular can pull a bit more darker berry pink on me, and sometimes even pull red, I do think I would like to try another shade - specifically the Amourette! But I do really like this shade, especially applied with a lighter touch. As you can see from the swatch photos, it's just a really gorgeous pink shade that is very natural and effortless.

Unfortunately, because I don't use cream cheek products, I can't speak about how it applies or performs on the cheeks. Sometimes I do test them out for reviews, but right now my cheeks are really broken out and cream blushes really look horrible over top of blemishes. Maybe in the future when my breakouts are gone or not on my cheeks I can try this out again, as well as other cream cheek products, but for now this will be just used on my lips.

They do say you can use this on your eyelids and facial contours as well, but a shade like this just doesn't work for eyelids or contour. Maybe one of the other shades - like French Tulip - would work for contour, and that I would give a go because I do like cream contour products from time to time (that type of shade doesn't make blemishes appear redder or pinker in tone). I've never liked these type of products for eyelids though.

If you do like this kind of 2-in-1 product, then I do think you'd really enjoy this one. It has a fantastic formula, feels better than any other similar 2-in-1 cheek/lip product I've used, and I was really pleased with this Ma Cherry shade.
