As most of you know by now, I love full coverage foundations because I have too many flaws to cover and it's easier when I don't need to fuss with layers or concealer. Even though this Dermablend Smooth Indulgence Foundation lists it's Medium Coverage on the tube, I can say it's more full coverage. The shade I have, Natural Beige, is too light, but I was going by the shade chart for the wrong foundation from their line (stupid me). Natural Beige falls into the darkest end of the Light category in the Cover Cream, but in the Smooth Indulgence Foundation it actually falls into the middle of the Fair category. It's not the end of the world; I'm at my fairest skintone right now, so I can still make it work with some bronzer. In the spring/summer it won't work, so I'll have to switch to Soft Beige. Regardless of the shade, it covers beautifully, as seen in my before & after pic!

Dermablend Smooth Indulgence Foundation Review:
I love Dermablend foundations because they cover my flaws and look great on. This is my first time trying the Smooth Indulgence Foundation, and I really like it. It's a great choice because it covers a lot without the need for concealer or multiple layers. Although, of course you could use concealer and multiple layers with this.
I applied this using a flat-top foundation brush, applying in circular motions. That's my preferred method of liquid foundation application, but I will play around with applying this with the sponge too.
Even though the shade I have is too light for me, I still like to wear this foundation. I can make it work by adding bronzer or Smashbox Halo in Medium on top. It's better to have it lighter than darker when it comes to a foundation shade mix-up. I also have foundation mix-in's, to darker or lighten foundation. I'll try using the one to make this foundation darker and see if that corrects it.
Overall, yes, I would absolutely recommend this to everyone with flaws to cover, or anyone who wants a flawless face!

I wear Dermablend as well and really like it. The color soft beige works well on me, but I had to test it in store to find the right shade. I've got some before/after shots at http://tallulah-bonvivantbeauty.blogspot.com/2012/02/dermablend-smooth-indulgence-spf-20.html
ReplyDelete@ Lulubelle: Thanks for sharing your link too. I'm going to have to buy a darker shade if I want to wear it alone (which I would love to do), but right now if I did that I would look like a ghost, lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Crystal :) My skin is just like yours and this looks absolutely loverly on you... I wish I could find it in-store to swatch b/c I am so scared of getting the wrong shade or disliking the texture. I am so picky and have several meh foundations right now that other people love.
ReplyDeleteHi, was it cakey at all with or without the powder? Thx
ReplyDelete@ Sarah S: Thank you! I hope you can find it in a store so you can test it out. I really like the texture of this for being so full coverage. It goes on really nicely. I have another full coverage foundation that I love too, probably even more, it's from Illuminare. I will be showing that review this coming week.
ReplyDelete@ Micki-Lacquer Nirvana: It's not cakey at all on me. I've tested it by itself, but I have oily skin so I use a setting powder. I do have the Dermablend Setting Powder, but I've also used the It Cosmetics Bye, Bye Pores powder and the Mally Poreless Perfection Skin Finisher (solid) to set this foundation. It all looks good. I do add a darker color on top - Smashbox Halo in Medium or Laura Geller Bronze-N-Brighten - and both go on so nicely there is no caking. If you had dry skin I don't know if there would be any caking or not, but I can say this foundation really impressed me with how non-cakey it was on me... especially over trouble spots.
I had a Dermablend foundation for acne-prone skin and it was amazing! My face looked like porcelain and never had a major breakout, except the usual here-there spot during PMS. It can be a bit tricky to apply, you only need a tiny amount and because of it it last a very long time; getting the bang for every buck it cost.
ReplyDeleteHey! I just saw the results on you and it's just so pretty! I wanted to ask you some advice because I'm blonde and my skin is quite pale but I have red acne scars and I just don't know what shade to chose. Dermablend products are not sold here, and I wanted to order this foundation. It will be so great if you can help me! xxx
