Tarte SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liners - 7 shades - swatches, pics, review

Hello, Beautiful!

I recently purchased the Tarte limited edition set of SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liners on Sephora's website  For just $39 you get six of them, which is an amazing value ($150 value to be exact). Up until I purchased the six-piece set I only owned one of these pencils, in a shade I would never personally use (shade Fig). I liked the formula and the concept, but hated the shade. I'm excited to have more shades that I will actually wear!

Check out my pics, swatches, stats, and review...

Basic stats for Tarte SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner:
Formula: creamy pencil
Coverage: nicely pigmented; buildable
Wear: long-wearing
Shade Info: currently about 14 total shades available
Cost/Availability: $25 each (0.056 oz full size). Available on Tarte's website, on Sephora's website, and everywhere else Tarte Cosmetics are sold.
Packaging: chubbier pencil; dual-end; pull-off caps; one end with color; one end with smudger
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Kisses!

Formula:
A creamy pencil that can be used as an eyeliner or all-over shadow. The formula is infused with Amazonian Clay, which works to nourish lids, reduce surface oil and improve overall texture for easy application and better wear. It will also reduce dryness and flakiness, improve skin clarity, elasticity and firmness. Also in this liner are Vitamin E, a natural preservative that acts as an anti-inflammatory emollient and protects against free radical damage, and mineral pigments known to soothe and soften the skin.

Coverage:
This product is very nicely pigmented; you will get bolder color from this but can smudge it out for a softer effect.

Wear:
Very long wearing! These liners will not budge once they set!! They are truly stay-put and long lasting!

Shade Info:
Currently I was able to round up a total of 14 shades: Fig, Golden Beige, Smoke, Violet, Silver Black, Espresso, Moss, Bronze, Brown, Charcoal, Golden Black, Navy, Plum and Olive. I own half of those shades and plan to buy more when they're sold in value sets.

Cost/Availability:
$25 each, or you can usually find them in Tarte value sets. They normally are sold with a sharpener. The best was the 6-pc set sold for only $39, making them just $6.50 each! You can purchase these liners on Tarte's website, on Sephora's website, and everywhere else Tarte Cosmetics are sold.

Packaging:
This is a chubby pencil (but not super thick) that is dual end. At one end you will find the creamy color, which has a pull-off lid in the pencil color. On the other end you will find a smudger, which has a clear lid. The pencil does require sharpening.

Tarte SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Review:
I really do love this product! I had received one in Fig and just wasn't a fan of the color, but I really loved the formula and how well it stayed put when I swatched it. I knew I wanted one in a different color and now I'm happy to have six more shades, thanks to a value set from Sephora. The shades Golden Beige, Smoke, Violet and Silver Black are shades I would use any day. Moss, Espresso and Fig are still shades that are not my style, but I still think they are pretty in their own right.

Once I put these on I know it's a race against the clock to smudge them out before they set. Realistically you have 30 to 60 seconds before they become budge-proof. And when I say budge-proof, I mean it! They will not move! They are very nicely pigmented too! Really beautiful color from these.

Another great point is the fact these are so versatile. You can use them as a regular eyeliner, as a smudgy/smokey liner, or as an all-over lid color.

I highly recommend checking these out!

Now let me know what you think...

  1. I don't currently own one, and at $25 a pop and me being cheap it's not surprise but wow do I want one now! Those colors are amazing!

  2. @ KaylaMarieEnglish: You can usually find them in value sets - 3 for $39 is what I found at QVC, but Sephora had the best deal with 6 of them for only $39! Of course that set sold out online, but if you can find one in-store that would be your best set. I could not resist buying the set for only $39! :)

  4. Hey, new follower! Your nose looks great! I had a good nosejob in 2005, but since then I have scar tissue or something on the left side of my nose bridge that has made my nose go a bit crooked and looks like a bump returned on the 3/4 view. I wonder if your surgeon does revisions! You can see my crooked nose at beautyvigilante.blogspot.com because I do FOTDs :) Anyway, love your blog!
