I recently received a sample of Guerlain's Terracotta Skin Healthy Glow Foundation in the shade Brunettes 02.
Swatches, pics, & review....
Guerlain Terracotta Skin Healthy Glow Foundation
Shade: Brunette's 02
Shade Description: A muddy terracotta brown.
Basic stats for Guerlain's Terracotta Skin Healthy Glow Foundation:
Formula: I would call this a whipped gel-mousse formula
Coverage: sheer
Wear: I'm not sure
Shade Range: 2 shades available on Sephora's website
Container: the full sized version comes in a squeeze tube with twist-off cap
Cost: $49 for 1 oz full size
Availability: you can purchase this on Sephora's website
My Rating: 3 out of 5 Kisses
Formula:
I would call this a whipped gel-mousse formula, but that's not how it's described on Sephora's website. It is very creamy and has a gel type of feel too. I thought it felt extremely soft and silky on my skin; very easy to blend. The finish is matte.
Coverage:
This provides very sheer coverage; I don't even want to call this a foundation. I would say it's more of a tinted moisturizer or a tinted bronzer. If you need a foundation that offers coverage then you'll want to skip this. However, if you want a product to add a terracotta colored glow, then this is it.
Wear:
I only had a small sample, and I did not use it on my face. As you can see in the photos above I only used it on my hand. I can't say if this wears long or not, and there is nothing in the product description on Sephora's website to say if it is or not.
Shade Range:
Only two shades available - a shade for blondes and a shade for brunettes. So what does that mean for the redheads? I guess they could choose either one. The blondes version is lighter than the brunettes version.
Cost/Availability:
$49 is a lot of money, but this brand is high-end and high-priced. You can purchase this product on Sephora's website.
Review:
I really liked the way this product felt and the way it blended into my skin. It really did feel super silky and soft. I wanted to pet my hand over and over because it felt so nice, haha. It even looked undetectable on my skin, looking very natural.
However, I don't like the actual product. When I think of terracotta I think of orange, and I don't want orange skin. Even though you can't really tell by the photos, it did have a slight orangeish tint - well, terracotta tint - but it still looked like a believeable color; not too orange at all. It didn't look great on me, probably because I've already got a tan.
Would I purchase the full sized version? No, I would not. This just isn't a product for me. It may be a great option for someone who is lighter in skintone. The formula is wonderful, I'll give it that, but this isn't a product I'd ever use in my makeup routine.
I just received this same Sephora sample.. I've been scared to open it because I'm not tan enough right now lol it would probably look ridiculous on me till I get some color. The formula looks interesting though, almost like the Stila One-Step.

ReplyDeletelike 01 Blondes
I am 50yrs old and do not like foundation. The only one I ever cared for was Clynique water based when I was young. I love this foundation, it lasts all day (until I wash it off actually - so if I go to bed with it on, it is still there in the morning.) I am a blond, and it looks natural, and not caked on, like most foundations on women my age. It is awful expensive, but I have used the same tube for 5 months (most every day), and I am just now getting low. I have probably spent the same amount on all the other cheap foundations I have purchased, but then never used because they are too heavy. I am a clearance rack shopper, and I would even splurge on my self for this product.
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous: I'm so glad you've found a perfect foundation for you! It's always tough to find one that caters to your every skin needs, I'm still on the search for my holy grail foundation; I have a few choices I'm really happy with, but I feel like there's gotta be something else out there. Or maybe that's just me, trying to convince myself to buy more to test out, lol.
