I've got one boob....

Hello, Beautiful!

I don't know if many people who read my blog know this, but I have fake boobs. I don't hide the fact that they're fake; I'll tell anyone and I enjoy helping others who are thinking about doing the same thing. I had them done when I was 19 (back in February 2004) and developed a complication only corrected by surgery (I waited until after I had my son to have them re-fixed, which was in February 2006). Well last night my right implant ruptured!!!!

I have saline implants so it's not an emergency situation, but the longer I wait to have them fixed the more that cavity/pocket will close and the more difficult the surgery to remove it will be and the more pain I will be in afterwards. Luckily, today I was already going to my surgeon's office (he's the one that did my nose & chin; he did NOT do my boobs and I would never go back to the doctor that did my boobs). If my boob could break at the perfect time, it did. My surgeon confirmed that yes, it ruptured.

I am having the surgery to fix this within a month or so. We do not have money for this right now, but this is one of those emergency situations that pop up where we can use a low interest or no interest credit card for. This surgery won't be as expensive as my nose & chin, and part of my hospital/anesthesia fees will be covered because my boobs are still under warranty. But still... expect more stuff in my blog sale soon!!

Right now I feel weird... I don't feel feminine and I feel really uneven (of course). I joke that I look like a before & after on one body, lol, but it's kind of true. I'm going to Victoria's Secret today to get chicken cutlets for just the one boob because I can't walk around like this for a month.

When I have them re-done I will have both implants taken out, even though the left one is perfectly fine. I just would rather have two brand new, fresh warranty implants. Not sure how the pain will be afterwards... I know it will hurt but I likely won't have any pain of the skin and muscle stretching. Then again, I was told it wouldn't hurt as bad when I had them done the second time and I thought it hurt worse. Only time will tell!

I guess I'm taking you all on another surgery journey! My nose & chin surgery journey page was moved from the top of my blog page to a page on my website. Click here if you want to check that out (it was last updated a week ago with pics after my surgeon injected some filler on the one side of my chin to even it out).

That's all for now. Just needed to talk about all that.

  1. Good luck with your surgery! I have mine done, too, it's nice to see another blogger with PS because I always feel awkward to talk about it on my blog. I think that I am the only person out there that has them done. Anyways, sorry that you had a rupture...I can't imagine how bad it would suck to walk around lopsided for a month!

  7. Awww, thank you everyone for your kind words of support! I went to Victoria's Secret and purchased those gel bra inserts (I didn't realize you get 4 in a pack; two different shapes). My one boob is a full D and my other boob is maybe a small B. The inserts make my boobs even again, but I feel like they will fall out because I don't have a bra that has a space for inserts. I'll have to tape those suckers in there, lol.

@ Sarah: It's always nice to meet another blogger with PS! I find people are either really welcoming of what I had done and will want to ask questions, while other people will turn their noses up. Even with all the issues I've had getting my boobs done, I would never regret getting them done. I had barely an A cup before I had them done and I can't picture my body without them now. I only went to a small C cup when I had them done originally and then ended up growing on their own when I was 22 or 23 years old. If they hadn't grown on their own at that time I would have nothing in my right boob right now. Thankfully I have a little something.

It just feels so weird. I can't wait to get them fixed!

@Sneha Sunny: I will for sure document this surgery journey because I know others have gone through this, are concerned about it happening or will go through this at some point if they've had their boobs done. I'm staying very positive about everything, even though I'm still in semi panic attack mode, lol.

  9. Holy moley! You poor thing.

You could probably sew a pocket into one of your bras to hold your cutlets until your corrective surgery. It shouldn't be difficult to do then you wouldn't have to worry about tape or slipping. :)

  10. @ Ice Queen: I'm really, really not good when it comes to sewing anything, lol, but I really hadn't thought about doing that! Thanks for the idea! My mom is visiting this weekend for Christmas and she's great with sewing, so maybe she can figure something out and then like you said, I won't have to worry about them falling out. Especially because the Jason Mraz concert is this coming Monday and I will be jumping around dancing. Could you imagine if one of my inserts flew out LOL!

  15. My goodness girl! I'm glad you're replacing both, I wouldn't trust that second one not to rupture as well. Good luck on your surgery oxoxo

  16. @ Ceece: I have no idea how it ruptured. It's just something that's prone to happen at some point with breast implants. Some people have their implants for 20+ years and have no issues at all, while others may have a rupture after just a few months. I was lucky to have gone just about 8 years. I know when I first had them done I was old that you should expect to replace them every 10 years, even though most people don't have to. I guess I'm one of those that do.

  18. I wish you good luck with the surgery. I have an A cup but I never dare to have a surgery, I went to many doctors looking for information and it only scared me more. And that's why I admire girls who dare to do it :D

  19. *Hugs* oh hon I'm so sorry! I just had hernia surgery so I feel your pain and nervousness! Sending lots of good thoughts your way for a good surgery and quick healing (and as little pain as possible!)

I will definitely be interested in reading....I am hoping to get my breasts done next year. I'll be 42, they've done their service (2yrs of nursing my son) so it's time for some perkiness! Like you, I want to get saline--silicone scares me to death esp since I have chronic illnesses and have heard horror stories.

Hang in there hon--there is nothing not feminine about you. I know that's easy for me to say, but it's all about attitude--not what parts you do or don't have (right now).

    xoxoxo

  20. @ The Crafty Angel: Thank you for your kind words! It's really hard to look in the mirror and feel good, but I keep telling myself it's only for a few more weeks then it will be fixed and I will have new boobs, lol :) I'm trying to stay positive, but I have to admit the first day or two I was really having a hard time getting my head around the whole situation.
