Maybelline Color Elixir Liquid Color Balm - 6 shades (most of the pinks) - pics, swatches, review!

Hello, Beautiful!

I had been keeping my eye out for the new Maybelline Color Elixir Liquid Color Balms and got there minutes after the display was put up! I have to say, I really, really, REALLY liked these! So much so, I plan to get more colors - even though I already picked up 6 shades! In this post I'll show you pics and swatches of shades Fuchsia Flourish, Captivating Carnation, Hibiscus Haven, Rose Redefined, Blush Essence, and Petal Plush. I am happy with all the shades except Petal Plush, which was just too light and milky for my taste (but is a pretty baby pink with shimmer that will look great on some people). Check out my full review, including all the product info, after the pics!

Maybelline Color Elixir Liquid Color Balm Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: Retails for $8.99 - but prices will vary depending where you shop (1 fl oz full size). Available at drugstores nationwide.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Kisses!

Fall under the spell of the elixir effect: hyper-saturated color and ultra cushiony feel. A trio of concentrates delivers the color of a lipstick, the cushiony care of a balm, and the glass shine of a gloss. Has an exclusive angora brush that delivers a polished, even application and smoothing sensation to lips.

Available in 20 shades.

I picked up 6 shades, but I want more. Other shades I have on my list are: 010 Celestial Coral, 065 Caramel Infused, 005 Breathtaking Apricot, and 030  Raspberry Rhapsody.

Out of the six shades I have, I really do like them all except for Petal Plush - which I mentioned at the top of this blog post, and how it's just too light and milky for my taste. It seems like this line has cream and shimmer finishes. Out of the six shades I picked up, four were cream shades and two were shimmer shades. I actually prefer the non-shimmer shades for these glosses.

The most wearable out of the six shades I picked up is Rose Redefined, which I feel is a great everyday color that will go with just about anything.

The packaging is small, but you get a good amount of gloss. Inside the tube the color looks like a lipstick bullet, further playing into the "color of a lipstick" feel.

They are cushiony and feel like a balm going on. They are a thicker gloss, but certainly not sticky and not gloopy. They are very cushiony and emollient feeling, with great gloss/shine to them. They almost make your lips look plumper because of how glossy they make them.

The wear is pretty nice; although I haven't had these long, I have literally been wearing them non-stop since picking them up. Because they are a thicker formula they do stick around on your lips for a longer time than a regular gloss, but of course re-apply as needed.

The pigmentation I find is pretty good, although some seemed more pigmented than others.

They retail for $8.99 (although I have heard people saying they saw these for upwards of $10 to $12 depending where you shop), but Walgreens had them for $8.99 and they were Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off - plus the lady at the cosmetics counter hooked me up with $1 off Maybelline coupons! I think she also only charged me Buy 1, Get 1 Free because I somehow scored all 6 of these for under $25!

I really liked these and would highly recommend you pick up a few - specifically if you can find them on sale! I know the displays only had two of each shade, so I have a feeling it's going to be hard to get your hands on popular shades. Also, they each do have a seal, so hopefully you can find some that have not been opened!

Now let me know what you think...
What do you think of these glosses? Which shade is your favorite? Have you tried this or is this on your beauty wish list? Discuss in the comments below.

  1. I LOVE red tones and berries. So I'm hoping around Black Friday when I got shopping I can pick up a few of those different shades of red I've been seeing!

  3. @ MakeeUp4Liffeee: I hope they'll still be around by Black Friday! I know that I found some on a good sale now - I somehow got all 6 for under $25! Find coupons and do the Buy 1 Get 1 half off deal if you can for at least 1 or 2 shades - these glosses are seriously good stuff. My lips, on days I wear these, have been so hydrated and they feel healthier even after I take them off!

  4. @ twiStar: LOL yeah i wanted them all too -- okay, maybe not all since I'm really not into reds or deep berries, but there are a LOT of colors that caught my eye! I hope you do pick some up - I love these! And thanks for your kind compliment about my blog! I appreciate it! :)

  5. Maybelline is 30% off this week at CVS so if anyone wants to just try one like I did ( and someone who isn't into glosses and wear matte lips these I would def try) that's a good option.

  8. I spent two minutes just admiring your swatches. All of them. This is hands down the best swatching and most helpful swatches of this product on the Web. Or any product now that I think about it. There's just so many pictures! If you didn't give me such a variety of photos to browse, I wouldn't even have notice the shimmer. Props for clear photos and perfect lighting AND I noticed you swipe the colors onto white paper too! Baffles my mind why so little people do that because that is truly the most helpful thing. Thank you for the hard work and thoughtfulness~ Seriously I could weep.

  9. @ Anonymous: Thank you so much! I put in a lot of hard work and effort into each post, so it is always lovely to hear it's being appreciated! I just take the photos that I know I'd want to see if I were looking up a product. I can't stand seeing blurry photos or manufacture/stock photos. Thank you again so much for your kind words!!
