Elizabeth Arden Limited Edition New York in Bloom 2013 Bronzer & Eye Shadow Trio - pics, swatches, reviews

Hello, Beautiful!

I have two products from the Elizabeth Arden Limited Edition New York in Bloom 2013 Collection: their Pure Finish Radiant Bronzer in the shade Soft, and their Eye Shadow Trio in the shade Violet Bloom. The packaging of these products is so cute and pretty, but what do I think of the actual products? Read my reviews below, including all the product info, after each set of pictures.

Elizabeth Arden Limited Edition New York in Bloom 2013 Pure Finish Radiant Bronzer Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $38.00 (0.35 oz full size). Available on the Elizabeth Arden website, at Macy's, and everywhere else Elizabeth Arden cosmetics are sold.
My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Kisses

Available in Soft (which is what I am showing you in this post), Warm, and Deep. The shade Soft is too light for my skintone - basically doesn't show up, especially once blended in. All it looks like is shimmer on my face with no color at all. I think the shade Warm would have been a better match - but I can still use this bronzer as an eyeshadow. Either using the individual shades within this bronzer palette, which I showed in the swatch photo, or mixing them together as you would if applying like a bronzer.

I don't like shimmer for a bronzer so I wouldn't use this as a bronzer because of the shimmer - maybe as a highlighter - but I would use it for my eyes. The formulation was nice but the shade wasn't right for me and the shimmer threw me off.

Not sure I'd recommend as a bronzer unless you like shimmer - then yes, I'd recommend this. The packaging is really cute and pretty.

Spring brings out everyone's best colors. Elizabeth Arden's Eye Shadow Trio gives you three times the possibilities to let your eyes shine in matte, metallic and shimmer finishes. These versatile shadows make it easy to highlight, contour and accentuate your eyes.

In the Limited Edition New York in Bloom 2013 Collection there are two shadow palettes - Violet Bloom (which is what I have and what is shown in this post) and Viridian Bloom. I will say that their website shows different colors in the Violet Bloom palette than what I have... or at least out of the same order that my palette has, so that could be misleading if shopping online.

The colors in the palette are exactly like they say: a matte finish, a metallic finish and a shimmer finish.

The first shade in my trio would be the metallic finish - although I think it's more satin finish - and it's my favorite shade out of the entire trio. I'd describe it as a gray-brown taupe. It also has the best pigmentation and applied the most even. Just happens its the most wearable shade for me too.

The second shade in my trio would be the shimmer finish. It's a sheer pink with shimmer. Didn't have the best pigmentation and didn't apply evenly. I like the shimmer in it, which you really can't see in the photos, but the pigmentation and application were less than desirable.

The third shade in my trio would be the matte shade. It's a plum shade, more of an ashy plum shade. This didn't have the best pigmentation either.

All the shades were kind of soft and lacked that pow I would expect for the price. Over an eyeshadow primer is the only way I would ever wear these, as they just lack pigmentation on their own. I haven't tried to apply them wet, and not sure they're even formulated to apply wet so I likely won't even try (so you don't get that film that develops over shadows not formulated to apply wet, and then they really don't want to work).

Overall, I thought this packaging was super cute and pretty, and the colors looked pretty in the palette, but two of the three shades were let downs for me. I'd buy the first shade on its own and skip the other two shades completely. I don't know if these formulas are similar to other Elizabeth Arden shadows, as these are the first ones I've tried, but so far I don't know if I would buy more. Don't know if I'd recommend this particular eye shadow trio - the other limited edition trio, Viridian Bloom, seems prettier and maybe give that one a try if you're looking to try something from this limited edition collection.

Now let me know what you think...
