Pacifica Coconut Kiss Creamy Lip Butter in Sunset - pics, swatches, review

Hello, Beautiful!

Last month I said I had a few makeup products from Pacifica I'd be sharing with you all - and I started with the Pacifica Smolder Eye Lining Gel in Anchor. I know it's taken me awhile to get these reviews up but life has been a bit side tracked lately. Better late than never! In this post I have the Pacifica Coconut Kiss Creamy Lip Butter in the shade Sunset. The color is pretty, but do I like the formula? Find out in my full review below, including all the product info, after the pics!

Pacifica Coconut Kiss Creamy Lip Butter Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $10.00 (0.23 oz full size). Available on the Pacifica website, on the Beauty.com website, at Target, and everywhere else Pacifica products are sold.
My Rating: 3 out of 5 Kisses

Get instant 100% natural color and deep hydration with Pacifica's coconut infused lip butter. Supernatural ingredients, excellent antioxidant properties and long lasting wear will make you fall in love with this incredible formula.

Sweetened with Stevia for just the right amount of flavor for your kisser. As always, 100% vegan and cruelty free. Formulated without petroleum, carmine, FD&C color, parabens and other ingredients you don't want to eat.

Pacifica's Coconut Kiss Creamy Lip Butter is for anyone who wants wonderfully hydrated, long lasting lip color with stay put power and high color payoff. These are a great alternative to lip balm. Perfectly portable, 100% recyclable.

Currently available in four shades: Sunset, Shell, Blissed Out, and Stardust.

I had really high hopes for this lip butter, especially after reading all the great things about it (that I just listed above). I think maybe my expectations were too high because this didn't really impress me too much for a few reasons - but there are pro's in addition to the cons.

Let's start off with the claim that this is high color payoff. No. It's not. In fact, I'd call this sheer to light color payoff - at least the shade I have, which is Sunset. I found the shimmer to show up on the lips more so than the color; it was very sheer color pay off but that's not to say I don't like that. In fact, I actually like the shee color pay off to this product. I'm not sure if other shades are maybe more pigmented, but Sunset was definitely on the sheer side with some shimmer.

Next let's talk about the number one thing that turned me off: the taste. They say it's sweetened with Stevia, but all I could taste is cardboard. Oddly enough, I find a few different brands of more natural, good-for-you-ingredient lip products have had that same cardboard like taste. I honestly wouldn't mind the taste in a lip gloss, but a lip butter needs to taste good or I won't want to use it on my lips.

I did feel it was very comfortable on my lips - that was one thing I did write down and put stars next to in my notes on this product. It also had a really nice shine. As far as hydrating, I didn't find it amazingly hydrating or a cure for dry lips, but it didn't dry out my lips and it did moisturize them.

Then again, another con is it's in a jar and although a lot of lip butters are in jars, I'm just not the biggest fan of dipping my finger into a product and I know I'm not alone in feeling that. However, if a product is amazing and/or has a gorgeous shade, I'll easily deal with a jar product.

Overall, I'm not sure how to really rate this, so I put it in the middle with a 3 out of 5 Kisses. The cardboard taste could be limited to just my pot of lip butter, and it could go away after the first layer is completely gone for all I know. The lack of pigmentation may be a plus for you - but again, I haven't tried the other shades. But it does feel really nice on the lips, has pretty shine, and I did like the more sheer color payoff. It's certainly worth giving it a looksie on their website.

  2. The packaging is so pretty! But too bad it's such a sheer colour.
