Fun makeup with my nieces

Hello, Beautiful!

Can you believe that I'm STILL sick? This is week three! I can't get rid of this cold and it is seriously running me into the ground. I am losing energy like you wouldn't believe, but hopefully each day brings me closer to being normal again. Anyhow...

My two beautiful nieces are visiting me for several days and of course whenever they're here they like me to do their nails and their makeup. Yesterday we had some fun with makeup, doing one "crazy" look and one "normal" look.

For each of their crazy looks they wanted to play with color... Alyssa loving pink and Destiny loving blue. For their normal looks Alyssa wanted a dark smoky eye... in fact the photo she picked out was super dark but I didn't go that dark on her. Destiny didn't know what she wanted, so I just did my own thing on her. Below are the photos from our makeup party yesterday. I'm sure we'll have another makeup party before they leave, and of course some fun nail art days too.

Let's start with Alyssa...

The Before:

The After - The "Crazy" Look:
This looks was actually inspired by Adora BatBrat, whom I personally admire for her own sense of style and way of living. At first glance you may say "wow, she's kind of crazy" but then you become drawn to her, at least I was. If I had an alter ego I think she may be it... bold, not afraid of color, and one kickass mom! Not to mention she looks so young but I believe she's in her late 30's to 40's! Anyhow, onto the look inspired by her...
Keep in mind I didn't use mascara on them because I didn't have new mascara to use on them (and never share mascara!). However, using mascara (and even fake lashes) would have completed this colorful look.

Makeup Used: Claire's eyeshadow (for the pink shade), e.l.f. Mineral Shadow (for the white), Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner (for the black), Rimmel lipgloss with a loose pink glitter patted on top.

The After - The "Normal" Look:
Alyssa wanted a dark, black smoky eye (she found a pic of Eva Longoria in a magazine), but  didn't want to go that dark on her. Instead I suck to dark shades of gray, which still is too dark for her but that's what she asked for! Again, keep in mind I didn't use mascara on them because I didn't have new mascara to use on them (and never share mascara!).

Makeup Used: Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long-Lasting Foundation, MAC eyeshadow, NARS eyeshadows, Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, Benefit High Beam, Tarte Amazonian Clay Long-Wear Blush (in Glisten), NYX Round Lipgloss (in Real Nude).

Now let's go onto Destiny...

The Before:

The After - The "Crazy" Look:
Destiny saw this peacock makeup look online with bold blue and green shadow all around the eye. She loves blue so I knew she would pick that look! Sadly I didn't have any nicely pigmented blue or green shades to use so I had to work with cheap Claire's makeup and make the best of it. For some reason I forgot to take an after picture of her entire face, but really all we did were the eyes anyway.
And again, remember, I'm not using mascara on the girls because I didn't have new mascara for each of them to use and you should never share mascara!

Makeup Used: Claire's eyeshadow, Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner

The After - The "Normal" Look:
Destiny couldn't decide what "normal" look she wanted to try, so I asked if I could just throw something together and make sure she looked pretty. She agreed and the photo below is the end result. She looks so much older!!
Again, no mascara used, which would have made this look (and all their looks) that much more complete.

Makeup Used: Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long-Lasting Foundation, Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Mercury, Dior eyeshadows, Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, Benefit High Beam, Tarte Amazonian Clay Long-Wear Blush (in Glisten), NYX Round Lipgloss (in Real Nude)

Overall we just had fun and that's what's most important.

  2. Thanks Crystal! You have a great name :)

And I would totally do your makeup if I could. I love doing makeup on other people because it helps me review and report back on products; a lot of times I find that certain products work better on other people and sometimes don't work as well on other people. It's good research :)

  3. Natural make-up, specially on Destiny looks lovely but they are so young and beautiful without any. It is ok if they are just playing around but in real life they don't need it just jet :)
