YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Illuminating Foundation - before & after, swatches, pics, review

Hello, Beautiful!

The YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Illuminating Foundation is one I was very excited about and couldn't wait to try out. Loving the YSL Touche Eclat highlighter, I had high hopes for this foundation. It is an absolutely beautiful foundation with the way it illuminates your skin; I just wish the coverage level was greater. Regardless, I am loving this foundation!

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Illuminating Foundation Review:
I was super excited to buy this foundation because I already love the YSL Touche Eclat highlighter. This is a bit expensive at $55 a bottle, but I'm willing to spend the money if the foundation is worth it. Foundation is the one makeup product I will spend any amount of money on because it's the base to a flawless face.

I think this foundation is really beautiful. It does a spot-on job at illuminating your skin; the best illuminating foundation I've ever tried. The formula does feel weightless and light on your skin, and it looks very natural.

It only has average staying power on me, even with a setting product. I do have oily skin, so that could have something to do with the staying power.

The shade I chose is B40 Beige, which is a near match for my skintone (which is a lighter medium with yellow/olive/neutral undertones -- closest to MAC NC25/NC30). It's maybe a little too light right now, but with fall and winter approaching I'm not concerned. I'd have to go up a shade or two in the summer.

The only fault with this foundation is the coverage level. It's light to medium buildable coverage. For someone like me, with lots of flaws, that means it's not going to get the job done in one layer. I have to pair this with a concealer and/or layer this foundation. It does layer nicely, which is a good thing, but I'd rather not have to layer my foundation unless necessary. However, with that being said, this foundation has such a beautiful radiant illuminating finish that I will work around it's coverage level.

This is one foundation I'm keeping and I'd recommend!

  1. Well I love the review but after going through the whole post I just want to say" YOUR EYES ARE SOOO PRETTY AND THE LASHES OMG ,

  2. @ sataa: Thank you very much! My eye color in the last three pics is from my contacts (prescription; Freshlook: Sterling Gray). My natural eye color is brown, but I like to wear colored contacts to change it up. My lashes are natural; just using my favorite mascara: Mally's Volumizing Mascara!

  3. Awesome pics! It looks great on you. I'm not a foundation wearer (tho I should be). This is the first time I've really SEEN what buildable coverage should look like.

  4. That may just be the most beautiful foundation I have ever seen! It looks amazing on you! I need higher coverage, but perhaps paired with concealer, this might still work for me...going to try a sample very soon. And you are so pretty dear!!

  5. I actually think it looks really pretty. I'm oily too and it sucks because I want the dewy fresh look but those foundations just make me oilier quicker.

  6. It looks really great in your pictures, and I was wary of this one for the coverage. I think you can pull it off :)

  7. Stumbled upon your blog while researching about this foundation.i got a sample from my local sephora,LOVE THE PRODUCT but unfortunately i broke out after a day of testing it.call me crazy but i still love this foundation. Now im on the fence wether i should buy this or not.this is the ONLY Foundation that looks great on my dry, patchy skin. I got my sephora $15 card yesterday and now i am even more confused! Could u at least recommend something thats a bit similar to this one?

  8. @ ayen852002: Sorry it made you break out; that's a real bummer because like you said, it's a really lovely product. If you really love the foundation maybe you could try it over a different primer to help prevent breakouts? Or it's possible the foundation didn't break you out but your skin had some kind of stress/hormone reaction to cause a breakout and it was just bad timing with trying the foundation. But sometimes there is just no way around it and a product will make you break out.

I don't know if you've tried, but the L'Oreal True Match Lumi foundation is supposed to be the drugstore version of the YSL (or so I hear). I personally haven't tried it.

Also, if you can't get around the foundation maybe you could try a different foundation but switch your primer to one to help your dry skin. Smashbox makes a GREAT hydrating primer that is wonderful for dry skin. Something to consider if you have other foundations that show up patchy.

One more option: you could use another foundation that doesn't make you break out, paired with a hydrating primer, and then buy the YSL Touch Eclat highlighter pen and use that to add a glow (I use the highlighter pen whenever I don't use the YSL foundation - or sometimes I will only use this YSL foundation as a highlighter).

I hope you find a solution!

  9. Thank you for the fantastic review and the amazing pictures! It really helped me to decide whether or not to buy this foundation ;). I think I will, because it does cover quite nicely for a light foundation and your skin looks amazing with it. Loving the glow!

  10. @ Nathalie: I'm glad my review was helpful for you :) I love this foundation formula and it's definitely one that I would recommend to anyone who doesn't have major skin issues. Even though I do have bad skin, I still like to use this, layered (either layered by itself or over another foundation).

  11. Just found your blog, now I have to comment everywhere, lol! Your lashes are amazinggg, I was going to ask you which falsies you have on here, but I read they are your "own", wow!
I am experimenting with this foundation, I mix BR 40 with BR 20. Colourwise is great, but strangly the finish of my skin with BR 40 alone is much nicer (but too dark)... Your skin looks flawless with it. Keep up the good work ;)
