About 4 or 5 years ago I purchased my first tube of Laura Mercier's Silk Creme Foundation. For some dumb reason I never re-purchased it. I finally got my senses back and recently repurchased this fabulous foundation! I forgot how great this foundation is!
My Before & After pic using Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation
Formula: a thick liquid foundation
Coverage: medium to full
Wear: long-wearing
Shade Range: 8 shades available on Sephora's website and 9 shades on Laura Mercier's website
Container squeeze tube; twist off lid
Cost: $42 for 1.18 fl oz full size
Availability: find it at Sephora or Laura Mercier
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Kisses!
Formula:
This is a thick liquid foundation; but even though this has a thicker consistency it still feels light weight. Oil-free and good for all skin types.
Coverage:
Medium to full coverage depending on application method, but mostly full coverage. This is an excellent choice for anyone looking to cover all their flaws.
Wear:
This foundation lasts a long time, especially when paired with a primer and setting powder. I forgot how great this foundation was.
Container:
A squeeze tube with twist-off lid. Easy to use.
Cost/Availability:
This foundation is pricey but worth every penny. You can find it at Sephora or on Laura Mercier's website, along with other high-end beauty retailers.
Review:
I love this foundation. I'm mad at myself for waiting so many years to buy another tube. This foundation goes on beautifully, looks great, covers all my flaws, and lasts all day. This is an excellent foundation! I highly recommend!!!
Let me know what you think! Do you own this foundation? Do you have any questions about this product? Leave me a comment or send me an email!
how does this foundation compare to the tarte Amazonian clay foundation?
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt Laura Mercier wins!
ReplyDeleteTarte's Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation is nice, but doesn't last as long as the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation.
You also get better coverage with the Laura Mercier foundation and there are more shades available.
This looks flawless on you! What brush or method did you use to apply this?
ReplyDeleteHi Darcee! I put dots of foundation on my face (working just one area at a time). Then I used the e.l.f. Powder Brush to buff the foundation using circular motions.
ReplyDeleteI've gotten addicted to using the e.l.f. Powder Brush for applying my liquid foundations. It's just easy and pretty results!
May I ask what shade are you in MAC?
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous: In MAC I'm about an NC30/NC25 depending on time of year. NC30 fits me better most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say that I love your blog. I always find it to be so informative. Your pictures are always amazing and spot on. My skin texture (acne prone/hyperpigmentation)is so much like yours that it's uncanny! Anyway, because of this review, I purchased Laura Mercier (I'm actually the same shade as you which is funny), and I love it!! Thank you for doing this. It helped me make an informed decision!!
ReplyDelete@ Toni: That is funny that we are so closely matched skintone and skin problems. I'm so glad you love the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. It really is one of my absolute favorites!! :)
ReplyDeleteCan I ask if you used foundation primer or a setting spray/powder? And if so, which ones?
ReplyDelete@ Tania D: For the before and after photo I didn't use any primer or setting product. But when I do use this foundation (or any foundation really), I always use a primer and a setting product. You can try the Laura Mercier primer, which is a really good one or I really like Mally's primer.
ReplyDeleteFor a setting product I like Tarte's Amazonian Clay setting powder, or Mally's Evercolor Face Defender - which is a clear solid product that is amazing!
Do you think this will work on dry skin? I'm oily in the T-zone, but have dry patches on my cheeks.
ReplyDelete@ Marisa: I have skin very much like you some days -- oily in t-zone and dry patches on cheeks -- and this foundation works great for me no matter what my skin may be. I think it may even be better for those with normal to dry skin.
ReplyDeleteHi! :) Which do you prefer your Laura Mercier or Dermablend Smooth indulgence foundation and why?:)
ReplyDeleteBtw, thank you for posting all your before and after pictures for comparison! Thank goodness for you post we can finally buy the right foundation.:)
@ Ana Clartisse Joaquin: I prefer the Laura Mercier over the Dermablend - I honestly feel I get more coverage from the Laura Mercier, looks a little better on my skin too. They both last about the same on me. I do like Dermablend though -- I use it for mixing with other foundations that I want more coverage out of!
