Makeup Dupes --- Coming Soon!!! I'm so excited!

Hello, Beautiful!

I'm really excited because I've been working on going through my entire makeup collection to find as many makeup dupes on just about everything I own. I know there are plenty of makeup dupe posts and videos out there, specifically referring to dupes for MAC products, but I don't own a lot of MAC at all so most of my dupes will be for other high-end, department store and specialty brands. If you're looking for MAC dupes I may not be much help at all with that, but if you want dupes for other high-end brands - like NARS, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Smashbox, Make Up For Ever, Stila, Benefit, and many more, then I think you'll find my makeup dupes blog post very helpful.

I've already gone through a bunch of products, but still have plenty more to go through before I'm completely done. I'm having a lot of fun, especially when I find such amazing dupes -- meaning you can save money! Who doesn't love that?! I know I do! The only products I don't plan to go through at this time are primers, concealers, foundations and setting products. Specifically for the concealers and foundations I'd want to do more testing and before/afters, and I just don't have many/if any primers and setting products from the drugstore. I also don't want to waste money and just go out to get drugstore products searching for dupes, so I'm just working with what I currently own (which is a lot on its own).

I've already found many great low-cost dupes that are practically identical to some high-end/specialty brand products I own. And for me, dupes must be really spot-on. I know there are some products that are good-enough but aren't spot-on. When I look for a dupe, I'm looking at undertones, the finish, how it looks when I move my hand to show any color/sheen variances, the texture, and the performance of the product. If it's not an almost identical match then it really isn't a dupe to me; it's a "good-enough" product and a good alternative option, but to me it's not a dupe. It's sort of like when you read magazines and you see the fashion "lust" and "must" -- they're rarely ever identical but they're always similar or with the same theme/idea in mind. I always get frustrated when I see that in magazines because I feel like they didn't try hard enough to find a great dupe for the fashion lust. So yeah, because of my way of thinking, lol, you'll see that I'm pretty particular with my dupes and they'll be pretty much spot-on, identical, hard-to-tell-a-difference dupes.

I also found a dupe from the same brand (Mally), of the same product (shadow stick), just a different formula (one is her regular shadow stick, the other is the Age Rebel shadow stick); they have two different shade names, but they're identical in color. And I mean they are I-dent-i-cal! So yeah, can't wait to show you all that one too, and if I find any more like that.

I'll have swatches of all the dupes so you can see how closely matched they are; although not sure how they will appear on camera but I can assure you in real life they are pretty close. I will likely do a video as well.

Anyhow... enough rambling on and on... I'm just very excited and my arm is worn out from swatching like a mad woman. I just wanted to let you all know a makeup dupes post is coming very soon!

Enjoy the start of your week!  : )

Stars and Stripes Love Heart Charm Necklace - pics, review

Hello, Beautiful!

Stars and Stripes is a military inspired jewelry line. They combine the strong aesthetic of military design and feminine touches with precious metals and diamonds. Initially created to honor our military heroes, their jewelry line has expanded to have special meaning for every individual. I was sent their Love Heart Charm Necklace, which is in silver (although also available in gold) and has a genuine diamond. It's a cute dog tag style necklace, without being a huge regular-sized dog tag. This is the feminine, dainty version of a dog tag. It's small and cute, and I've gotten compliments on it - surprisingly mostly from those who have a loved one in the military. What's best yet is a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the charity Our Military Kids.

Stars and Stripes
Love Heart Charm Necklace

Stars and Stripes Love Heart Charm Necklace Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $149.00. Available on the Stars and Stripes website [http://www.starsandstripes.us]
My Rating: 4 out of 5 Kisses

This mini dog tag style necklace, with heart charm, is small and dainty - a feminine version of a regular sized dog tag.

Silver plated with a genuine diamond (2mm diamond --- it is small, just fair warning), on an 18" chain. The pendant measures approximately 1.1 cm x 1.5 cm (which is just a little under half an inch, but a little over half an inch). It's comparable to the size of a dime.

I'm all about love; I have two Be Love tattoo's on my body so I was instantly drawn to this necklace. The heart charm is cute and the message, Love, is something everyone can relate to. I've worn this necklace several times and have gotten many compliments on it, asking where they can find one because they have a loved one in the military, or lost a loved on in the military - and even those that have no connection to the military but just find it to be a cute necklace.

There are other designs; as I mentioned at the start of this post this necklace also comes in gold. There are a four different messages: Love, Courage, Inspire, Hope  - and then there are 5 different charms: heart, anchor, wing, star, ribbon. They have them combined in a few different ways, so check out the different options they have. Each has a genuine diamond in the dog tag. I don't know how much the carat weight is, but it is a very small diamond so if you're looking for big bling-bling this isn't it. If you want something more understated and sweet, then this is perfect.

The price is a bit steep, I will admit that it won't be in everyone's budget at $149, but keep in mind a portion of the proceeds is donated to the charity Our Military Kids. For some reason anytime a portion of sales is donated to charity it makes buying something more okay to me, lol. On the Stars and Stripes website it doesn't say how much is donated, but considering this line is all about the military I would assume they do a good part for that charity. You can read up more on the charity Our Military Kids on the Stars and Stripes website; click the 'We Care' tab at the top, or visit the Our Military Kids website.

Overall, I do think this is a really cute necklace. I love that it's a feminine version of a dog tag, and that it has a positive message. For sure this would make a great gift!

Now let me know what you think...

Santalia Calming Mask (for acne) - pics, swatches, review

Hello, Beautiful!

Last month I reviewed the Santalia Intensive Spot Treatment, which I fell in love with because it didn't irritate my skin and really did clear up my acne fast. I've tried out another product, their Calming Mask, and I continue to fall more and more in love with this brand! The Calming Mask feels good on your skin and is the perfect prescription for clearing up your skin and keeping your skin in check. I don't know why, but the Santalia brand works wonders for my skin. I've had clearer skin ever since!

Santalia Calming Mask

Santalia Calming Mask Info & Review:
Cost/Availability: $29.95 (2 oz full size). Available on the Santalia website. You can also purchase the entire acne regimen kit for $79.95 if you want to go ahead and get all four pieces.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Kisses!

The Santalia Calming Mask is great for acne prone skin! Gentle natural astringents and anti-bacterials balance and calm follicles below the skin surface. Rich mineral & sandalwood mask purifies and balances oily skin. Reduces swelling and redness in minutes - and the best part is it's free of benzyl peroxide, sulfates, artificial fragrance, dyes and preservatives!

This mask feels great going on; very cooling and refreshing. It has a thick creamy texture that's easy to spread and you don't need a super thick layer. This mask will turn a lighter, almost white color when dry. You can leave it on for a few minutes, just until it's fully dry, then wash it off - or you can leave it on as long as you wish. I usually put it on and go do something else. Sometimes it's on for 10 minutes, sometimes for 30 minutes. I've even had it on for an hour once because I got wrapped up watching the ending of a Lifetime movie, lol.

There is no sting or burning when using this mask, which is great. It does a nice job at reducing redness and swelling - hence the name "calming" mask. You can use this mask every day if you need to -- such as when you're really breaking out -- and then use just once or twice a week as maintenance. Use it as an overnight spot treatment if you wish, but you really don't need to leave it on that long in order to get the effects. This mask works rather quick, and I like that!

After I use the mask I follow up with the Santalia Intensive Spot Treatment to the areas of concern and my skin usually clears up in a day or two. My skin has been so much better since using these two products; now my habits of picking at my face just need to stop and I'm sure I'll have a clear face before I know it!

I would for sure recommend this mask for anyone with acne-prone skin, and the entire Santalia line!

Now let me know what you think...
